Obama is too nuanced
He speaks in circles, in words that sound too uplifting, and he's a waffler you don't get a straight answer, its spoken in platitudes, where is the god damn meat.

Now you can look at my avatar and see I support Hillary, but these are the reasons Obama makes me nervous, in real everyday voter terms, and how most people judge who they will vote for.

12. Don't give people false hopes. This country is going down the tubes and we can't
change direction.

2. So you rather a candidate that twists the truth in order to destroy their opponent.
Note to self: Swiftboating good if your Hill or Bill, bad if you're a republican.
Phew - glad you helped me with that one. What would I do without the constant attacks by the DLCers here, to keep me on the straight and crooked like their candidate.

3. Clinton's only work well when their backs are to the wall
and so they are constantly creating crises to which they then devote their considerable skills. They don't always prevail, though, and even when they do prevail, it's never about pushing the Democratic agenda forward. I'm an Obama supporter, and that's one of the things that makes nervous about the Clintons.

9. I would argue that a nuanced yet inspiring candidate is a one-in-a-million find.
Generally, it's either dull yet nuanced, a la Kerry, or charismatic yet us-or-them, black-and-white on the issues.

The fact that Obama can exhibit both these qualities would hardly, in my opinion, make him a worse candidate. If anything, it makes him better.

16. Only inspring reading from teleprompter; certainly not in debates
Obama is at his best delivering one of his "inspring" speeches using two teleprompters. I find it a bit disconcerting watching him turning from left to right and back as he alternates which one he is reading; he almost never looks straight ahead. Over the last several weeks, I have discovered some of why Obama doesn't inspire me and why I like him less as I learn more about him. I prefer Edwards, but I have tried to be positive about all our candidatesand to be happy supporting our nominee.

Obama is not very good in debates or in interviews when challenged on a position. He tends to talk around the point of the question, appearing evasive and possibly hiding something. Sometimes tries the wink and a smile technique to try to charm his way out of a tight spot. He often walks right into the debating traps set by others and spends too much time re-explaning what he really meant. I am surprised that his skills aren't better after Harvard Law.

I am not happy about feeling this way. Edwards is a really long shot, so I would like to be reasonably positive about Clinton and Obama. It keeps getting harder.

BTW I am one of those Boomers who will get over myself and will not give up fighting to advance Democratic causes.

P.S. Watching "Senator No" (Jesse Helms) the other night brought back all those bad memories Helms playing king-maker for Reagan from 1976 on and how the first thing Helms got passed and signed by Reagan was a huge cut to the Food Stamps program!

10. "in real everyday voter terms"
:eyes:

The only thing that lacks meat is your vague and endlessly repeated set of assertions.

It's like a broken record of campaign pablum, and article of faith for propagandists. No meat, they squawk. No meat no meat no meat no meat no meat no meat no meat. Rinse, repeat. No meat.

Get some substance for your own damn post before you go accusing others of not having any. You're like an automaton. Buy a thought.

14. It's like Clinton constantly saying she's the best commander-in-chief
candidate. She constantly repeats it but never explains the logic behind that assertion. My money is on the American Public not rallying behind someone who can easily be portrayed as a poll taking CIC who doesn't even bother to read the intelligence reports when sending soldiers off to war and borrowing trillions from China for the debacle.

18. Yes, that is why I support Hillary.
You get the feeling that it is all smoke and mirrors with Obama. He may produce a lovely show, but where's the substance behind the mask? I also am very concerned about his electability and his Chicago mafia connections. The second is bad on principle, but can also be used against him in the general, BIG TIME.

Hillary, otoh, is a known quantity. I don't like her Iraqi vote, but heck, Edwards and a lot of other good Senators voted the same. I'm ready to let that go and look at the big picture. She has excellent social positions, and can win the election. All the skeletons in her and Bill's collective closet were exposed and buried long ago.

Hillary will win the primary and the general. America will be the better for it.
