Former Indiana Rep. Tim Roemer, who gained national attention as a member of the 9/11 Commission, plans to endorse Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama because of his national security plans and crossover appeal.
“Barack Obama has shown the right judgment and has the best plans to deal with the national security challenges facing America,” Roemer said in a release the campaign planned to issue today.
On national security, Roemer said Obama “rightly warned” that Iraq would distract the U.S. from the fight in Afghanistan.
“His leadership and comprehensive approach to terrorism will carry out the full breadth of the 9/11 Commission's recommendations and restore America's security and standing in the world,” Roemer said.
