Why do Obama and Clinton wait until the last possible moment to vote in the Senate?

Why do Obama and Clinton wait until the last possible moment to vote in the Senate?
Are they checking the way the wind is blowing before they vote? If they were leaders wouldn't they be one of the first ones to vote? Or are they waiting for the check from their corporate donors to clear first?

That's the way it goes--none of them are perfect, and they have to play the money game, the Senate vote game, the media game, the debate game, and so forth, whether we care for it or not--it does chip away at their honesty and authenticity, and dampens their political courage somewhat. Just gotta go with the one who lets me down the least and inspires me the most.
