Facing the facts-This race ended on the night of the New Hampshire primary
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 11:54 PM by Tropics_Dude83
Not flaming. Just stating the facts. In the weekend after the Iowa Caucuses, Senator Clinton was very much on the brink. If she had lost New Hampshire, the race would have been over. However, she showed her emotional side and won the Saturday night ABC debate, and had a stunning New Hampshire victory.

Because the media expected her to lose by double digits in NH, New Hampshire had a tremendous impact on the campaign. She became inevitable at 10:30 ET on January 8, 2008 when the media declared her the winner of the New Hampshire Primary. Even if she loses in S.C., now, it doesn't matter. S.C. is what Iowa was in 1988 to Gephardt and the field. It's not really being contested. Hillary isn't even campaigning there.

The Super Tuesday math is devastating to Obama. Clinton will win hundreds of delegates and there isn't a single hundred delegate plus state that Obama will win. CA, NY and NJ are out of reach.

A weekend in the snows of New Hampshire decided the nomination. Everything that has happened after New Hampshire is irrelevant. The dye was cast. Now, if Obama had won New Hampshire, I think Clinton would have withdrawn from the race by now.

1. How sad for us. Clinton is busy handing the oval office to the GOP in November.

2. Don't count your chickens, etc.
The press will do what it can to drive this race as close to 50/50 as possible.

"If it bleeds, it leads." And if it bleeds for 6 months instead of just 2, it leads for 6 months instead of just 2.

3. You posted your dimwit prediction in the wrong place.
it should be in GD-politics. Didn't you have to select a either General discussion or General Discussion politics before you posted? and you choose the wrong one. And you expect me to accept you as a political prognosticator?

4. As a Hillary supporer, I think it is premature
to declare her victorious until we see a lot more vote and delegates selected. When she has the delegate she will be the nominee and not until then. But NH was, indeed, a very welcome victory. The fact that there is a tough primary battle is good for whoever wins the nomination. it will toughen them up to face the pukes in the fall.

5. I have a sad feeling you're right
Although I'd have liked to see my man Edwards make more of a splash, I have this sinking feeling in my gut that tells me that Hillary is gonna win it.

So, if my predictions are correct, we'll have Hillary up against Mittens in the GE. Good lord, a New Yawker and a Massachusetts "liberal". What a fucking mess the primary system is when it doesn't give us the best two candidates.

6. Winning states isn't the important part on Super Tuesday, it's all about math
If Obama comes within a few points of Hillary in the Super Tuesday states that she wins, they will be roughly even in delegates. IMO this won't be over on February 6th.
