Serious question: Why did Obama only get half of the white YOUTH VOTE in SC?
Edited on Sat Jan-26-08 08:01 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
They're not Clinton folks and they don't remember the Clinton years so you would think the idealistic candidate would do better than half. Also race is a non issue with college kids any more. Where is the resistance coming from?

1. Your numbers are BS, he got well over 75% of the youth vote.
what he got 50% of was the white youth vote.

3. What poll are you looking at?
CNN sez he won 68% of the youth vote (18-29) to Hillary Clinton's 23%.

had to edit, because you changed your OP. Well, I'd say 50% in a three way race is pretty darn good.

12. LOL - about "half of the white youth vote" -- what does that come to: about two votes?
So one dude in flip-flops and some chick in sweatpants with "JUICY" across her ass voted for Obama. Big Whoop.

16. Because there were two other candidates.
No one ever said that ALL college students would vote for Obama.

This just might be your most pathetic spin yet.

19. I'm a "young" voter in SC that voted for Clinton
Without going into my history, which would lean me towards Clinton...

I think Clinton has the best chance to win in the general election. They had been beaten down for years, and always seemed to bounce back because they knew how to "play the game." Republicans seemed to be able to beat down all of our candidates (Gore, Kerry, etc), but they never beat Bill, and as much as they go after Hillary, she's still going strong.

As much as I like Obama, I think he would be another in the too-long-a-list of losing Democratic presidential hopefuls. The Republicans would tear him up. And being from the South, I know that many people have a racial bias, and would never vote for Obama. I think there are just as many people that would be motivated to vote against Hillary for being a "Clinton" as there would be Obama for being an African American. It's sad, but I believe that to be true.

After getting much more involved in politics, I can't handle another Republican taking the presidency. The fact that we lost to Bush in 2004 was shameful, and it would be even moreso if we lose to another Republican candidate in 2008. I think Clinton has a better chance to win the presidency than Obama.

I would love to see a Clinton/Obama ticket though, because I think it could set us up for almost two decades of a Democratic presidency. I don't have any ill will towards Obama, like it seems some have. If Clinton wasn't in the race, I would vote for him. But I just can't handle another Republican being president, and I think the Clinton's KNOW how to win the presidency.

Obama's hopeful message sounds nice now, but Republicans will tear that up in the presidential election, and I think he will end up "losing" the same way our last two candidates did. I wish we lived in a country where Obama's message could resonate and really make waves in the presidential election, but I think he will be beaten down like our other candidates.

Love them or hate them, the Clinton's are proven winners. They know what it takes to win. I want someone that can WIN. I don't want another nice candidate that loses.
