OBAMA/HILLARY/EDWARD fans: If Gore were to have run, who would you vote for?
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 06:04 AM by BigBearJohn
Just curious.

Another funny thought: I think the Republicans
dislike Hillary as much as the Democrats dislike Bush.
Seems like an even tie. For that reason alone, I
wouldn't mind seeing Hillary win (even though
I fully support Edwards).

1. nah
I would just still vote for Obama because I'm so vested in him. But I love Gore so that would be tough, but Obama is my guy.

4. Not an easy choice.
But I would have had the same issue with Gore as I have with Edwards. How do I know he wouldn't go back to being the moderate he used to be?

5. I like Gore an awful lot, but he had his shot
And we've all moved on. It's Obama time now, and it wouldn't be right for Gore to hop into the race at this point.

6. Big Gore fan here but the dude wouldn't run.
And at this point I'm glad he didn't...and so gave an opening to Barack.

7. If Gore had jumped in before the primaries started
I would be volunteering at his campaign.

There are few of us here (probably) that have seen Al Gore up close. I happen to be fortunate to have been in a rather small meeting (I was a back bencher to my principle... a center director for NASA) with Al Gore chairing the meeting (it was on EOSDIS, which I had just led a review team to write up a progress report. EOSDIS was in trouble and that had garnered the attention of the executives (NASA Administrator, VP Gore, a number of Associate Administrators, etc). Five hundred million had been budgeted for it, and it was failing.

Al Gore was very knowledgeable and asked penetrating questions. It was very clear that he had been briefed on all the details of the review I helped to craft. It was also clear that he wanted progress, and rapid progress, on the Earth Observation System. He wanted the climate scientists to get the data as quickly and efficiently as possible. These were in the days long before "Global Warming" had entered the lexicon of the average person.

I came away as a Gore supporter. Always will be.

But he decided not to get in this time and, given what he went through in 2000, I don't blame him at all.

I don't think he will get in at this late date. Would he accept the nomination at a brokered convention? I have no idea. I don't think that we will even have a brokered convention.

10. Gore would split the party at this point
He wouldn't do it.
No theoreticals there.
However, there is always the possibility of a brokered convention and then anything can happen. I believe THAT would be the only circumstance where he would enter the race.

14. Gore, he's right on most of the issues and has the experience & knowhow to make change happen
Since he's not getting in before February 5th I will most likely vote for Obama.

22. Gore...
I've been a supporter since Earth in the Balance was first published ~ imo it was a tragedy of enormous proportions when Republicans succeeding in stealing the election.
