DEAN FOLK - Check in with your 2008 primary support

OK DEAN PEOPLE - Who do you like for 2008? We pretty much have three pretty good candidates.

Hillary Clinton - She has the corporations, including WalMart, Rupert Murdoch (News corp / FOX), and diebold supporting her. She has the unbeatable Big Dog out campaigning for her and she has the cash and experience to go the distance. I think she has the best bet of getting into the White House.

Barack Obama - Against the Iraq war from the start, not just when the war became unpopular. Full of hope and able to take all the slimy cheap shots that BigDog can throw at him.

John Edwards - Like an electable Dennis Kucinich, Edwards has made a sharp left turn. He apologized for his shitty Iraq war support, supports universal health care, and understands that we need to fight the military industrial complex (corporate rule of America = fascism).

I must admit that I would love to see Edwards get the nod. I will support Obama if it looks like he can stop Hillary. I live in NY and know that my electoral vote will go the the nominated Democrat. I would like to support someone that opposes the drug war and will avoid war with Iran (I am smart enough to understand that we will never be able to leave Iraq).

As a Dean supporter I was surprised that Dean was able to secure the establishment support in my local area. It was amazing to see almost all elected Dems and Dem leaders support Dean (they were either supporting Dean or Leiberman in my neck of the woods).

HRC has all the establishment support. There is no grassroots movement, outside of Ron Paul and some stirrings of third way Bloomberg hopefuls.

So long story short, I can't imagine anyone being able to stop the Clintons. I would bet my last dollar that HRC will be the next president.

We sure did worked 24/7 for Dean! That included our soul sacrificial oath to "Take Back America".

I still believe by the way but with eyes wide open. I learned that our idea's, as noble as they were, are not enough but only a part of the equation. To move forward and to make progress you have to start with the group pack/ majority then spread the boundaries of that group outward towards a progressive "target" instead of the ultimate goal.

To be able to listen, negotiate and bargain is how the progress is made. Listen to the opposition, instead of the in your face, read this style. Validate their ideas, then, share yours; one can evoke thought and then choice from the opposition to ponder.....It's like dealing with a "Borderline Personality Disorder"....

Hillary is the " Mother of our Nation", we just don't know it yet.

Heck, just look how great Chelsea turned out.

I will vote for the Democrats in the general. Still am a big Dean fan.

make mincemeat out of the Republicans. I am tired of the pundits and so-called journalists pontificating about her and her husband. He was great as president and I think Hillary will follow. She cares about this country. So much of what has been said about her and her husband is nothing but things taken out of context and comes from her detractors. The media will still try to elect someone else for us. It has become one pundit outpunditing another pundit.

A recent Dean fan, over his support for Kerry, when few Dems came on board waiting for Hillary, and his work on the 50 state strategy.

Clintons feeling they were owed this, working against Kerry with a book tour not honest about him but and agreeing with Bush everywhere (ie not promoting change), and connections then and now working for that same end. Election night stragey revelations, and more, not deserving. Strength of longtime connections unfair advantage.

Edwards is revisionist about 2004, and taking positions sure to appeal to primary voters when easy. Each election revving up populist rage and hopes. His voting record not exemplary when it counted and more difficult.

Obama is nimble, thoughtful and inclusive. A fresh start we need. When we can't change as dramatically and as fast, he will be able to talk honestly about where we are, need to go, and how. He will be believed. Symbolism alone around the world immeasurable.

I am 60% for Edwards, down from 80% a month ago.

I am 40% for Obama up from 5% a month ago.

I am 0% for The Clintons down from 15% a month ago.

that's me to a t....still crossing my fingers for edwards, but it's looking unlikely.

The clintons/DLC will just show Dean the door.

The Clintons sucked the party far more to the right than it had ever been, which benefitted themselves personally (not sure it did the rest of party). Edwards has managed to very skillfully pull the party back to the progressive side of the spectrum, so he wins my vote for his subtle but effective impact on Dem politics.

Pay attention, Congress, a revolt is brewing. Too many of us out here are seeing Dem and Repug as two sides of the same coin.

I'm finding it amusing on the one hand to see a replay of 2004 here among the HRC and BO supporters.

It is as if they have willfully shut their eyes to the political history in the US since 2000.

I'd called it in 2000 re: Hillary preparing for 2004/08
as well as Barack in 2004 in prep for 2008. Folks laughed and were disdainful. Methinks the majority of those are currently supporting HRC and BO at the moment.

Nothing like being snookered and then relishing in it.

Now, on the other hand, I'm pretty disappointed in seemingly intelligent people rolling around in the mud over their candidates. What's next? More madrasa accusations? HRC doing crack? Vince Foster?

The current attacks on HRC, BO and their families are quite pathetic.

Hence I'm hoping for a brokered convention.

The Clinton DLC continue to attack Howard Dean at every opportunity as they have since he launched his presidential campaign in 2003. They try to steal credit for his successes, such as the 50 state strategy, and blame him for their failures, like this Florida/Michigan fuckup.

I was a Kucinich supporter until Friday, when Dennis didn't leave me any other option. I switched to Edwards as the most progressive of the available candidates, though I have concerns about his platform now, not matching his past record. However, if you looked at Al Gore around 1988 and compared that guy to the man who won a Nobel Prize recently, it's proof that people can change, once they get away from the lies of the DLC.

Some people see a little bit of Dean in Obama. I hear it in his speeches, but don't see it in his talk of "unity" which only seems to be reaching from the center to the right, and ignoring the true base of the Democratic party. If Obama is the nominee, he will have my vote in November, but I hope he is able to convince me that he deserves it. Hillary isn't capable of doing so.

The DLC is like a cancer in the party.

Originally it was Edwards, but since I've gotten a better idea of who Obama is, I am supporting him. I cannot support another Bush/Clinton in the White House. Its time for change.

Let's say I'm leaning towards Edwards and leave it at that.

Edwards is probably my second choice.

Although Howard didn't have to vote in the Senate
like Obama didn't on Iraq and I agree with their
anti-war opposition, time has moved on from that
initial invasion. Someone has to deal with the
aftermath, an embassy larger than the Vatican and
permanent military bases. That means redeployment
but occupation for however long that means to
the stability of the region.

As much as I liked/like the pragmatism and anti-war
stance of Dean and the speechmaking of Obama, I don't
think either is up to the job of the President of
the U.S.

And as much as I had stars in my eyes for Dean and gave
him more money than I have any other candidate and
can see people looking at Obama in the same way...reality
checks are needed for both.

Dean's done a great job with the training and 50 state
strategies, but he's a lousy speaker. Obama's a great
speaker and not so great at the details.

Hillary is good at both. And it would be a thrill to
have our first female President.

Perhaps you never heard him speak.

I love the guy but speaking wasn't his strong suit.

Will support the nominee in the general, albeit reluctantly, if Edwards ends up losing.

Some Hillary supporters here are REALLY
making a bad showing, though. Rude and
pushy, they make it hard to be sympathetic
to their candidate, who already has a problem
with her cynical, hair-splitting votes and
republican-like, ends justify the means mentality.

Obama is too preachy and untried, but I like
his anti-war history.

Edwards is .... boring and wants us to believe
that he is the opposite of what he was in 04.


I agree with your assessment, with the exception of Hillary
having the best bet of getting into the White House. I believe
she has the best bet of getting the dem nomination, but in
match-ups, I think she fares the worst of our candidates.
She is polarizing. Pukes, independents AND lots of democrats
dislike her INTENSELY.

I will vote for the democrat.

Personally, I'm hoping for the brokered convention -- big drama -- why the hell not!
