They will polish that turd until folks actually believe he is a diamond.
In the end, we will have a chance to lose an election that should have never been ours to lose. Sometimes we never learn.

2. I agree that the media boys and girls will go to work on this guy and
try to re-sell him just as you say.

But substatively, McCain is ever-thinning manure spread over increasingly wider garden. His key issues are ones a wide majority of voters oppose, so I'm hoping the media's efforts fail to persuade.

We need to work very hard in places like Missouri and Ohio to make sure our ticket prevails.

5. Russert should bring up US military commanders saying foreign fighters are very small % in Iraq.
But, of course, he won't do that.

7. I'm sure Timmy like all the Rethug media pigs has huge investments
in our military industrial complex. They will do whatever it takes to put McCain in office.

9. I noticed
And look how soft the lighting is...excellent job by the lighting crew.
Doesn't show his age AT ALL.
Compare with the harsh lights they usually put on the Democrats.

4. He's spewing "Al Qaeda" "Al Qaeda" "Al Qaeda" "Al Qaeda" on Meet the Press
Saying global radical islamic jihad is the greatest threat to America and it's the #1 issue "at the end of the day" for conservatives.

If that's true, then, DAMN, the GOP is in big trouble because they've finally duped themselves and their entire base.

6. That's all they got. Well, that and immigration.
Both bullshit issues. Think Americans are smart enough not to buy it this time around?

10. Nope. Because I fear that Americans have lost interest in both of those
issues and care about the economy now...and ONLY the economy.
The Iraq War is gone as an issue.:(

8. McCain
The won't so much repackage McCain but they will try to repackage Iraq. If you can sell Iraq, you can sell McCain. We need to constantly remind people just how expensive this war has been in terms of blood/treasure/opportunity cost.

11. They do not have to repackage McCain. Why do you think
the Media has pushed our weakest candidate. There is an
awfully good chance he will be the next president. Dos
this make me happy -- no.

16. No way. MSM picks a designated loser from dems. ALWAYS! Ultimately, a GOP
is propped up, our nominee sullied and battered. remember 2004? before the scream, dean was their darling. But they picked kerry and turned on dean. As soon as Kerry was the sure thing, they turned on him too (pretty fast - if you blinked, you missed the honeymoon)

12. Fuck him, the islamic jihadi's aren't
foreclosing on a crapload of homes in my neighborhood. The islamic jihadi's aren't shipping American jobs to India. The islamic jihadi's aren't raping me on interest on my credit cards. The islamic jihadi's don't control OPEC, those are bush's buddies doing that. The islamic jihai's are one facet of the many problems facing the USA. Ol' John Mcain will focus on this one aspect of our nation's future to the exclusion of all else. Just what we don't need. Oh, and continue borrowing money to pay for it forever. (These guys spend money like someone who has every intention of stiffing their creditors it seems like)

14. Prez elections are about image and personality...
I don't think the issues matter one bit. This country, in which about 70% of the people recognize Iraq for the clusterfuck that it is will without thinking twice elect a man who has pledged to stay there forever.

18. I think the MSM is going to package any candidate that is behind in order
to make some news. They live for the conflict and you can bet that the MSM is going to go all out to find a way to create that conflict. They live for the storyline and will create one whether it really exists or not.

19. I'm not so sure
I have a BIL who is a moderate to conservative Dem, is ex-military (Navy) and told me that awhile back he would have voted for McCain but not now..He's too much of a hypocrite. I think it would be really easy to pull out contradictory quotes on him. Not that it wouldn't be close, but I think too many independents have lost trust in him.
I believe that head to head both Obama and Clinton do okay against McCain. But I'm not convinced he is gonna get the nod. The fundies don't like him much.
Oh - plus he talks about "no timetables" with Iraq. Who does THAT sound like. I doubt people are gonna want more of the same in this regard
