On To The Convention, Mr. Edwards
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 11:39 AM by RestoreGore
Were it not for Mr. Edwards being in this campaign now, I would not be involved in it in any way, shape, or form. I find it's nastiness, mudlslinging, race and gender card playing, and dirty tactics to be a total turnoff. Mr. Edwards's message of hope in working to end poverty in America and green our economy are the two most important reasons why I will stay with him until the convention. I don't care about "rock star" status, eloquent speeches that talk in abstracts, celebrity endorsements, media hyping, or just voting for someone to have a "first." I care about addressing the problems that have been plaguing this country and its people for decades that no one is willing to address because they aren't "sexy" enough to be discussed and acted on. For me, John Edwards is the epitome of Robert Kennedy in his concern for the downtrodden, the poor, and the American worker who is the backbone, and I repeat, the backbone of this country. And while I admit that I wish all of the candidates were talking much more forcefully and urgently about climate change and taking evasive action now, I do believe that out of the three of them that John Edwards can be counted on to make those changes should he be elected in November. It is the principles he campaigns on that keep me supporting him, and that support will take me to the convention. Keep fighting the good fight Mr. Edwards. My donation goes out tomorrow.

2. Plus as long as Edwards is in the race people will keep "stealing" his ideas
Which is not a bad thing since he has good ideas.
Pity it doesn't seem to be helping his candidacy though.

10. He is also showing the truth about this political process as well...
We are seeing firsthand that it is about corporate media coverage, popularity, and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. The emperor has no clothes. And that in and of itself is a great service. Assault on Reason indeed.

3. I agree. K&R
It was always Edwards' message of giving a damn about the working class that resonated with me.

4. The good news is
he seems to be pulling the votes away from Hillary. He was my guy up until last week but my wife and I have switched our support and our Florida primary votes Tuesday TO Barrack Obama. We still love John and Elizabeth but we don't see him as a viable candidate that can win the nomination anymore.

9. Well he could win if people voted for him
To say you aren't voting for him because he is not viable, only makes him less viable. I just don't get that logic.

16. Yep. All the way to Denver! I'm sending another donation today.
I finally got a chance to watch Bono and Al Gore in the Poverty and Climate Change Forum on C-SPAN yesterday... and it made more convinced than ever that John Edwards is the right candidate for issues of the progressive movement.

Keep Fighting the good fight, John - all the way to Denver. I'll be holding a sign up for you when you get here!
