Poll question: If He Hadn't Died, Do You Think JFK Jr. Would Have Run For President?
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 02:12 PM by Magic Rat
Do you think he would have entered politics by now and possibly be gearing up for a run for president?

4. No.
He had seemed to make up his mind about not entering politics. He liked his journalism career. I do think "George" would be doing great now, plus who knows how many other ventures.

5. I find it hard to believe any Kennedy would take that chance again
Knowing they would probably meet the same fate as Bobby. :( Some conspiracy theorists have actually suggested John Jr. WAS thinking about running, and they (likely the Bush Crime Family) took him out early. I've never read anything that suggested he was interested in anything except publishing a magazine at the time, and he shouldn't have been flying his plane in the fog, as an inexperienced pilot. A sad and tragic loss for a family which has seen far too many, but probably nothing more than that.

6. Senator Clinton would be D-ILL right now ...
and Barak Obama would probably be in Congress or the IL legislature still. No way HRC would've contemplated running in NY against JFK jr. IL would have been a better fit for her, and she wouldn't have had to convince us all that she was a lifelong Yankee fan living in the shadow of Wrigley field...

Seriously, the political landscape would've been far different. I believe JFK jr would've made a great Senator, and an even better President. Just another tragedy to befall America's first family of politics. I'm not sure they've got anyone left with the Kennedy "magic". John-John had it in spades.

7. Yes
I'm reading American Legacy by C. David Heymann. He says "In his more private moments, he expressed a desire to move on, to explore the possibility of running for political office. In 1992 Bill Clinton, for whom JFK Jr. had campaigned, asked John to join his presidential cabinet. He declined the offer, telling Richard Wiese that if Clinton gave him a top cabinet position, it would be construed as an attempt on Clinton's part to capitalize on the Kennedy family name; if it turned out to be a cabinet post of minor significance, it would only hinder John's political possibilities for the future."

What might have been...
