Will Al Gore endorse Obama?
I think that's the question that must now be asked. I think that would carry great weight, and also maybe help Obama in Tennessee, where Gore probably still has some pull with Democrats. Gore is a revered figure within the party, and Obama's campaign has already gone much farther than Howard Dean's sinking ship did in 2004. At this point I don't see any risks for Gore to go ahead and do it.

1. I hope he does
but I won't be surprised if he doesn't endorse anyone. A lot of politicians don't like wading into the endorsement pond, and after 2004, I can see why Gore might feel that way.

2. I doubt he will endorse anyone unless
he feels that they will truly follow all of his global warming guidelines. Perhaps if he was offered a spot in the cabinet, where he could further his great agenda, he would back a campaign.

3. why would he?
Obama has not spoken out in any significant way on any of his issues. The only one he might endorse is Edwards.

5. I don't know that they agree on the best approach to the COAL industry, one of the planet's major
sources of pollution.

One never knows, though.

7. Obama does have the highest rating with the League of Conservation Voters...
...and his energy plan is the most progressive.

If Gore's going to endorse anybody, it will likely be Obama.

10. I would like to see Gore as Sec. of the Interior. Bush has been ravaging the hell out of
our environment!

8. President Gore will not be endorsing any primary candidates.
And, as someone else already pointed out, Obama's support of "clean coal" (talk about fairy tales) certainly wouldn't encourage Gore to do so.

9. Interesting question ...
I would think President Gore (hee hee) would wait to endorse the nominee. There is one thing that may make him wait. This week Al Gore gave a speech supporting gay marriage and as you know Obama does not support gay marriage but civil unions. Would his stance on that issue stop him from endorsing Obama I don't know. Here is part of Al Gore's speech which could be found on the current tv website:

"I think that gay men and women ought to have the same rights as heterosexual men and women, to make contracts, to have hospital visiting rights and to join together in marriage," Gore announced. "And I don't understand why it is considered by some people to be a threat to heterosexual marriage to allow it by gays and lesbians."

"Shouldn't we be promoting that kind of faithfulness and loyalty to one's partner regardless of sexual orientation?"

12. Most likely not.
Endorsements seem to signal a willingness to campaign to some extent for a candidate. Gore hasn't shown any interest in actively campaigning for himself or others.

13. are you kidding me?
Al Gore has worked for decades on climate change - to inform, and educate - and now you expect him to throw away his hard-fought clout on a candidate whose positions on climate change and subsequent solutions are so sub-tepid that they could draw their own beads of condensation!
