My DFA friends & I have opened up a Edwards Essex NJ County HQ......

I live in Montclair NJ, about 14 miles west of NYC. Our Primary is on Febuary 5th. Its very likely NJ will go for Clinton.

I did my first canvass in 1972 for George McGovern. I knocked on the doors of half my town, Stratford Conn, starting in August and finishing the day or 2 after Halloween. In 2004 I got recruited for the Kerry Edwards camapign, and went down to FLa for a paid position in Broward county. In early '05 NJ had a visit from Camp Wellstone, I took the 3 day campaign staffer track. It was freaking great. Since then I have worked in a State Senate race, School Board race, & I am starting my second congressional race. And I'm organizing for John Edwards.

.
I went up to NH just before the Primary,
it was so cool. I went to an Edwards
event and saw Senior Advisor Joe Trippi

Heres Senator Edwards speaking in Keane NH

I also got to see Hillary Clinton......

......and Barack Obama

"

About 3 weeks ago a friend got word of an Edwards supporter in town who volunteered his office during weekday evenings and weekends, so me and my dfa friends have been phonebanking from our new shiny free office space for a couple of weeks now. Houston, we have a phonebank. One Problem though, we have to put up our Edwards door sign with scotch tape, so we can take it down when we are done at night. We have no budget. Ok, thats 2 problems. Edwards is not going to win NJ, so really 3 problems. I dont give a crap.

When I was 14, I wanted to work for McGovern, I had to ask my mom of we could stop at the HQ so I could sign up, on the way home from shopping. I wanted to work for Jimmy Carter, even Mondale and Dukakis. I like to work for people that I meet and believe in, people I really can enjoy getting behind. The County Machine doesnt know what to think of us DFAers, we support progressive candidates, we are the Democratic wing of the Democratic party, and we really like defeating extremist freakoid right wingers.

I would really like to see John Edwards do better than 2nds and 3rds. But it does look increasingly likely that Edwards will go into the convention with a solid base behind him and will use that base as leverage. How the convention plays out, I haven't a clue. I think Edwards is the best candidate in the front 3.

Here in NJ my friends and I will be fighting to get every delegate for Edwards that we can. I feel that in 1972 the right thing to do was to work for McGovern, just as I feel that the right thing to do right now is to work for John Edwards. I know that in every nook and cranny of my soul, I'm doing the right thing.

No way I see Edwards quitting. He's doing the right thing.

10. He has a good chance to win
North Dakota http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4233420&mesg_id=4233420
He is running ads in Oklahoma, which he lost by a sliver in 2004 against a candidate not running this time. Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico are also good opportunities for him to win.

15. He got 10%, Kerry 51% - that is NOT a sliver
The closest he got to Kerry in states Kerry won was - about 15% fewer votes. No matter what Elizabeth Edwards said in her book - Edwards vs Kerry was NOT anywhere near close.

21. Sorry - I misread your post as on ND.
Kerry lost OK, NC, SC and VT - and won everything else. In OK - Clark and Edwards had 30, Kerry 27 - not a bad showing in what could be the most conservative state in the union.
