White people simply voting for the white candidate is NOT a victory.
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 08:54 PM by IsItJustMe
You know, on the face of it, this statement makes sense. But if you dig a little deeper, it could be a very subtle back door way of race baiting, depending on your perspective.

Listen up DU’ers.

I am a white male, so the frick what. But this is what I think anyhow. I don’t believe the black people are anymore or any less as racist or as stupid as white people.

I also don’t believe that black people are any more likely to vote for their own race as white people are.

Nothing that BO, HRC, or JE has said makes me believe that any of them have stepped over the line on this issue. I also believe that our msm is largely responsible for this perceived racial divide. Think for yourself and don’t buy into it. You are being played. We have a long way to go and the very future of this country is on the line.

On Edit. My post is in responce to another post. I am trying to make people think.

1. I believe that MSM is working on making our strength (diversity) into a liability
Too bad many listen to them because it seems to favor a candidate.

2. Nobody is being played here. Billary is playing the race card and we all know it.

4. White people have elected white presidents for the entire history of our country...
Wasn't that seen as a victory??

6. What about religious voters? You're ignoring the novelty aspect, the glass ceiling thing.
You don't think every Catholic in America voted for Jack Kennedy? They did.

You don't think many, though not all, Jews (and all who favor a strong Israel policy) would vote for Lieberman if he ran again in the VP slot with McCain? You'd see crossovers like MAD in NY and FL, especially if Clinton is NOT the nominee.

When it comes to FIRSTS, the FIRST "anything" CAN motivate voters. First black, first woman...first Catholic, first Jew.

White MEN aren't news. We have been there, and done that, and bought the tee shirt.

Once the ceiling is broken, people become more...discriminating... in their choices. They worry less about idealizing someone who fits a desireable "diversity" category, and they worry more about, and actually have knowledge of, the individual's actual policies and plans for the future.

7. You make a good point; but the person who is seeking the vote still has to be compatible with the
voter's views, regardless of race or any other consideration.

Take Allen Keys for instance, did you see black Democratic voters swithcing over to the Republican ticket in order to vote for him. Not at all.

I think that we all have our own weighting system in evaluating candidates, but not too many people are going to vote for someone that are out of bounds with their own self interests, regardless of race, religion, gender, etc....

10. Jews who care about Israel--and the US has plenty of them as it is the largest
diaspora location in the world, with NY as top state, and FL as third--will hold their noses and vote for that crazy McCain, with the hopes that "Joe" will keep him on the right path.

Alan Keyes isn't BLACK, though. His skin is--his head is cracker-crazy-GOP WHITE.

Joe Lieberman IS a Jew. An observant Jew, but not "OTT" observant. You don't have him over for BLT's on Friday night, but he will come to your cocktail party on Saturday night after sundown, skipping the non-kosher hors d'oeuvres, perhaps, but he won't insist that the menstruating women be kept away.

Ten percent of the electorate in NY is Jewish. That's a BIG chunk of mostly Democrats to worry about.

And worry about them, we should, if Holy Joe ends up hooked up with McCain.

9. My race has nothing to do with the candidates skin tone, color, or gender
I vote for the candidate who appeals to me.

I vote for the candidate that wants to acknowledge MY interests.

Of course in all the years I've had the opportunity to vote there has never been a candidate who embraces all MY interests, but hey whatcha gonna do.

That's why I'm throwing my support to John Edwards.

Q. Does he address MY interests?

A. Not all of them but he comes the closest to what I'm looking for in a candidate.
