Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 10:10 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
I want all of them to be viewed as "Christians" if they are. It's one ELECTABILITY hurdle out of the way that the PUKES won't be able to attack them on.

Obama should talk about it as much as he wants

2. Obama belongs to probably the most liberal Christian denomination
in the country. But you'd think he's a Southern Baptist to read DU.

21. Funny, considering that phrase refers to central IL
A vaudeville show was successful in Peoria, it would be successful anywhere.

Obama won Peoria County with 67.6% of the vote in 2004.

6. AS LONG AS he doesn't mix the two while in office
...or shove his religious beliefs down our throats, I'm fine with it.

17. Well, today he did say he was going to do "The Lord's work" while in office.
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 11:08 PM by krabigirl
Whatever that means...I'm sure he means it only in the best of ways, but still.

7. I don't mind any Dem candidates doing this
It's high time the Christian population in this country remembers that Jesus wasn't a republican.

8. His father wasn't the problem that they connected him to muslem
I read an article where they said his father did not bother to follow a lot of the muslim practices. His step father was the radical muslim and he only stayed with him for a short time.

11. No, Obama was raised in a secular household:
http://obama.senate.gov/press/070123-debunked_insigh/index.php

All of the claims about Senator Obama’s faith and education raised in the Insight Magazine story and repeated on Fox News are false. Senator Obama was raised in a secular household in Indonesia by his stepfather and mother. Obama’s stepfather worked for a U.S. oil company, and sent his stepson to two years of Catholic school, as well as two years of public school. As Obama described it, “Without the money to go to the international school that most expatriate children attended, I went to local Indonesian schools and ran the streets with the children of farmers, servants, tailors, and clerks.”

12. Absolutely. Same for Hillary
Like you said, its one hurdle out of the way. Plus it adds accountability. Its easy to tell by their actions if they are not what they say they are.

If candidates just talk policy, you really have no idea what they are about. And when something new comes up, as it invariably will, we have no idea how the candidates will approach it.

Obama is telling us where he's coming from. That's more than appropriate.

13. Liberal/Democrats flinging shit on the religious....
..has had a great deal to do with why we have lost so many elections over the last 10 or 15 years.

We should get over this allergy to people of faith. There are good ones and bad ones. Obama is a good one.

15. Or not .... per the Constitution
Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 11:04 PM by sjdnb
"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

In my opinion, any politician who panders to any religion perpetuates the misconception that this country was founded on Christian (or, name your religion here) principles. That type of thinking has not served humanity well, throughout history.

16. I think Obama feels like he has to over emphasize that he is Christian because
of all the emails going around calling him Muslim and because of his middle name. He has to do this to end any debate about him being a Christian.
