If Hillary gets the nomination I think she will need to offer Obama the VP spot
and if Obama gets the nomination he might want to offer a Woman the VP spot (not Hillary because of the polarization problems). Things are so divided now both candidates will need to reach out using the VP position to heal wounds. If not I worry women and blacks might stay home depending upon who gets the nomination.

I hate to see our party torn apart like this. It was fine until Iowa but then all hell broke lose!

5. She needs him more than he needs her
He brings young voters (she has yet to show she can bring young people in), independents (can't win with dems only), black voters (who are disenchanted with the Clinton's race baiting) and male voters (she has yet to show she can win among males).

13. I agree
Obama would take the edge off of Hillary's campaign in a big way. Hillary being the elder and a former first lady would probably refuse the VP slot if offered. Bill was top dog and I don't think they could live with being 2nd fiddle. They'd rather lose and go home.

39. No, it got PERSONAL with "Bubba's" antics.
At least Obama wishes to reconcile the nation while The Clintonian DLC just wants to keep taking sheets out of the Atwater Rovarian "dirty tricks" playbook to keep us "little people's" voices silent. It won't happen.

6. NEVER HAPPEN.
Unfortunately...

However, there is a good chance (I'd say 90%) that if Obama gets the nom, Edwards will be his VP. That's a better fit, IMO. They have very similar platforms and are talking about the same things. Obama is simply the more eloquent orator of the points.

16. You think this helps?
... there's been alot of talk about a black vice president. And I just wanna tell the world that it'll never happen. As long as you live you will never see a black vice president, you know why? Because some black guy would just kill the president. I'd do it. If Colin Powell was vice president, I'd kill the president and tell his mother about it. What would happen to me? What would they do? Put me in jail with a bunch of black guys that would treat me like a king for the rest of my life? I would be the biggest star in jail, alright, people would be coming up to me and I'd be signing autographs: "97-KY, here you go." Guys would be going: "You're the brother that shot Bush. And you told his mother about it huh? I hope my children turn out to be just like you, Man, you know I was getting ready to rape you until I realized who you were. And even if they had a death penalty, what would happen? I'd just be pardoned by the black president.

8. That would be a good outcome if Clinton wins the primary.
It will neutralize the conflict and she would get Obama's considerable organization and most of his supporter base. It would be a win-win for all of us. However, it looks like there's already a short list for the spot among her longtime backers: Bayh, Vilsack, and a few others. At times it seems like Edwards is vying for that spot too. Plus, when it comes down to it I fear that the Clintonistas/DLC will go the safe route and choose a white male.

black congresswomen. A white male will not be chosen by Hillary.

On the other hand if Obama gets the nod I doubt you'd see a female VP - a white male would be certain - and Edwards - whose staying in the race helps Obama - would be rewarded for his service with the request to join the ticket - at least in my opinion! :-)

His best move is to let her lose, then he can run again in 2012.

To much bad blood anyways.

I would like to see Richardson as Obama's V.P if Romney is the Repug. If it is McCain we need someone on the ticket who can deliver Ohio (or Florida).

All of them would, so your fantasy of 4 more years falls on its nose. The republican candidates are all basket cases, running as Bush clones, on a platform of never leaving Iraq. They have had their chance and blew it with W, whom they all seek to emulate.

53. It would ruin Obama's "bring people together message" I don't think he does it.
Even if Hillary goes on to win 8 years worth, its a bad move for Obama to become her running mate. Obama loses his real appeal if he does. Additionally, as Hillary just sees him as an "empty suit," Obama won't really get any interesting side rolls. Those will all go to Bill.

14. i like the ticket, but is it electable
i'm worried such a ticket may be too much change for mainstream middle american hick swing voters to handle. I mean I respect both candidates, Clinton a little more than Obama, but I worry it would turn Obama into another partisan dart target because he'd already be on the ticket with the most polarizing person in America. Or is she REALLY polarizing, or does the media make it that way? But on the other hand, it would reunite the party. but if al gore had one, everyone would be supporting him, and he would prob be the presumpt. nominee. thanks al for leaving us to dry.

28. Robert NOVAK, is that you?
He's been shopping that story today.

Hey, BOB, come clean on the PLAME biz, yah bassstid!!!

Clinton won't give up her seat on the SASC to be VP. Forget about it. She'll be lead dog or go back to the Senate.

Obama is young enough to sit back in the VP slot, do some high viz world travelling, be a superb ambassador, showcase his beautiful and intelligent wife, and get very comfy on the world stage for eight years. IF--and that's a big IF--he wants the gig. And IF--again, big IF--it is offered.

My sense is, if it does shake out that Clinton gets the nom, and she DOES offer VP to Obama, if he does not take it he will NEVER have the chance again. Her VP will be the party standard bearer, and he (or maybe she, but probably not) will be grooming his image against the day that it is his turn to step up.

As a VA resident, you have no idea how hard it is to get a democrat elected to the US Senate. How 'bout we leave Webb right where he is, and take someone like Biden to cover the foreign policy agenda.

Otherwise we end up with one less democrat in the Senate.
