Chicago-Tribune:" Not-So-Simple Story of Barack Obama's Youth"
A fascinating look into the early background of Barack Obama, with interviews. March 2007:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/chi-0703250359mar25,1,6124597.story?page=1&coll=chi-news-hed&ctrack=2&cset=true

In googling to find out about Obama's father, when and how he died, I ran across a recent Daily Mail article that purports to have interviewed Kenyan relatives and friends of Obama's father. The Daily Mail may be pure trash and sensationalism, however. It looks like one of those kinds of papers.

1. Looks shady to me
A bunch of "He said He said" from 20-40 years ago isn't very dependable.

4. But Obama is because he will never lie to us.
Or make up stories about his past. He grew up in racially mixed Hawaii? He went to an elite private school there? And from the elite private school, he went to...the IVY LEAGUE?

Man of the People.

6. Ever here of a scholarship, genius? Studen loans?
Obama attended Punahoa on a scholarship. He went to Occidental for two years before attending Columbia and Harvard Law. He had student loans.

Now how about Ms. Seven Sisters/Ivy League yalie?

13. He Was Paying Off His Loans Only a Few Years Ago
And he is one of the only serious contenders for the Presidency who can honestly say they know what its like to use food stamps.

29. So what if it was a scholarship? It was an elite private school.
NO ONE ever said the man was stupid. But he never spent a day as one of the rest of us. Yeah, he was a "community organizer." He walked in as the one in charge.

And maybe that's a good thing. Maybe that's the only "person of color" we'd ever elect.

But a man who can write "liberal welfare state" is not anyone who knows anything about me. His experience is just too different.

3. What I read about his father
was in a Chicago Sun Times article. He was a polygamist, had an alcohol problem, and physically abused his wives. He may have been drinking when he had his fatal car crash. Is that basically what the Daily Mail article said?

And he smokes?

They check him for hypertension, right?

9. "Barry"?
His friends call him Barry! Considering his erudite air of superiority, "Barry" is incongruous with his carefully-crafted persona and makes me snicker. His faulty memory and lack of veracity, however, isn't as amusing.

10. Air of superiority? Why, because he holds his head up
instead of shuffling round?

Why don't you find an Edwards Thread. Cause I don't even want to get started on Mr. Smiles at really weird times cause he thinks he looks so good that everybody is admiring him Edwards.

Edwards was giving his 4 Concession speech in SC, his birth state that he placed last in, and he was talking about the Homeless Veterans. And so the audience clapped because he had just said this....and he gave a bigass goofy salesman grin.....really out of place. Yuk! How can one talk about such desparation, and believe that a big fake smile is required as punctuation?
So, why don't you go and worry about that...cause it looked rather unseemingly.

12. Tell me again how Edwards' supporters are "conservative"
You really looked foolish when you said http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4239973#4240401">"Most Edwards voters are conservatives " and your very own link proved the fallacy of your position.

This isn't the firt time I've called you on your shit so you better put me on Ignore right now or I'm liable to keep on doing it.

18. The only ideological vote Edwards won in Iowa was conservatives
If that's any indication. He only did reasonably among moderates and conservatives in any state I can think of. Edwards has reached out to the blue collar vote (not as successfully as Hillary) and that is a conservative vote compared to other groups. That's "voters," as Frenchie said; not "supporters," as you said. A supporter is certainly going to be a voter. But most people just vote and most people who have voted for John Edwards are conservative.

22. I misquoted and said "supporter" instead of "voter" in the thread title
My bad, Sorry for the confusion. Follow the links in my post above for the original conversation. Frenchie said ""Most Edwards voters are conservatives" yet the numbers from the link she supplied said otherwise. To wit:

NH Voter demographics - Edwards

Liberal 16

Moderate 19

Conservative 16

The numbers don't lie, contort or distort...less than 32% of NH voters were conservative. It was my hope that Frenchie would acknowledge her error (unless, of course, it was an intentional obfuscation from which she quickly ran away.)

25. C'mon
This is so "Kewl" Frenchie Cat. She can say anything. Didn't you get the memo?
What are facts, when Frenchie when give us her ZEN view of the world, coughed up, as she thinks it in real time, and immediately posted. Look at all that hyperbolic gushing we would miss.

So, it is perfectly understandable how Frenchie cannot be bothered with petty things like FACTS. :)

20. Why not address his faulty memory and lack of veracity detailed in the article?
Now THERE's an issue worth commenting on. But it's easier for you to avoid the shortcomings of your candidate by getting indignant and huffy just because I think "Barry" is a silly substitute for Barack. Nice try at a segue but it didn't fly.

I, for one, am very impressed with Obama's efforts so far. And am quite willing to switch my support to him, when/if John exits the race. Whomever is our best chance to stop HRC has my support.
