1. I doubt anyone forgets but the problem is that they have melded into one entity.
Perhaps you can suggest an alternative?

don't be absurd. They're a married couple.

If you guys wanna use "Billary" we're MORE than entitled to use the other candidates' real names: Barack Hussein Obama and Johnny Edwards. We're even entitled to make up names, like "Osama" or "Prellboy".

I said we're entitled to.

If you guys want to use made-up names whose whole purpose is to insult us and our candidate, we're entitled to do the same to you.

Personally, I have argued MANY times here that no side should use such childish names for ANY candidate. But if you insist on doing it, you shouldn't be surprised when others do it back to you.

17. In the big tent, real Democrats don't hurl GOP-created "names" at one another.
You can disagree as to the extent that the President should help his Senator-wife, but calling them names created by Rove's minions is stunningly childish, and Un-BIG D-Democratic.

I shouldn't think you would need a memo. Didn't anyone ever tell you as a child that it isn't nice to 'hurl invective?'

i.e., she wasn't just going to stay in the White House baking cookies and having knitting bees for literacy. Being a politician in her own right was NOT (First)ladylike. The smear was that Bill couldn't control his woman and that (gasp) a woman might have the ear of the President.

But you look terrible when you sink to their level.

Seriously, a lot of us are just observers who are shocked at the level this has sunk.

I'm not American so I don't vote... if I did, I would probably vote for Edwards, but in any case, I'm neither a fan or an enemy of any (Democratic) candidate.

So, do you think Osama Bin Laden and Bill Clinton are comparable? (considering Hillary was morphed into Bill, but you decided to morph Obama into Osama) You're insulting the husband of your candidate with that picture...

Shame on you! And yes, shame on them too... but also shame on you! You're not better than they are, sorry... you are all disgusting. The whole world is hoping, wishing and praying for a Democratic President while you're stuck in kindergarten. Really, you guys should grow the fuck up.

about using such insulting photos, or names, and how inappropriate it is.

Now if you want to argue that SOME insulting photos are OK, but some are over the line, then make that argument. My position is that NONE of them should be used, because they're purely antagonistic and don't do anything to improve the debate here.

64. Nope
it's not my picture - I didn't make it. I posted it as an example of an offensive, childish picture.

If you want to argue that SOME offensive pictures are OK but others are not, then make that argument.

Personally, I'd argue that ALL of them shouldn't be used, because what offends you is not the same thing that offends me, and there's no objective way to decide what is "just offensive enough" and what is "too offensive".

If somebody posts a pic with the sole purpose of offending, the post should be deleted. If they keep doing it, they should be banned.

I rather doubt it was meant to be cute.

Apparently, I'm not the only one in the liberal blogosphere who thinks so:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/27/93634/9830

Although that poster remembers hearing it in 2000 during Hillary's senate campaign, I definitely heard it in 1990 during Bill Clinton's presidential campaign.

slang I guess

not everyone thinks they deserve the respect you seem have for them

They did not treat this party or the leaders in it with any kind of respect, having them lie for his indiscretions.

Respect is something that is earned not demanded.

I also refer to Obama by last name only, and not out of disrespect but brevity of type. I do not have a problem with his middle name of Hussein, you can call him Osama if it suits you, he still gets my vote.

Are people just going batshit insane by the bushel here all of a sudden?

I ojbect to sexist, Republican memes, no matter who they're lobbed at, and it sickens me to see Democrats repeating them when it suddenly suits their ends.

And it's really funny how everyone just assumes I'm a Hillary supporter every time I post something that isn't an outright smear against her or Bill Clinton. I remember when only Republicans behaved this way.

Its one of the most vile and destructive phrases used in public discourse. It shouldn't be seen at DU.
