28. He's been smeared ...

He's already been smeared with the "Osama" and "Madrassa" crap. The fact that he is weathering it well tells good things about him.

39. Wait till the GOP stops pushing Hillary ...

Have no doubt about it. The GOP and MSM has been pushing Hillary for a VERY long time. They have made a big investment in her in terms of research. They are sitting on it right now and waiting for her to be the nominee.

12. Clinton loses by 30% = Good for Clinton
Clinton higher unfavorable than Obama = Good for Clinton
Kennedy endorsement of Obama = Good for Clinton

Are you noticing a pattern yet?

Now that the luster is wearing off a bit and the voters get ahold of the actual substance of the campaign, they find there's not much there.

30. They went to ...

Those voters went for Clinton and Edwards. So conversely you have to look at how poorly Clinton and Edwards did with black voters.

We all know that almost of these voters will flip to the Democratic nominee in a general election ... whomever it is.

And both Obama and Clinton have a great chance of winning the electoral college against a nameless Republican.

turns out Obama is in the same league. Its true they have attacked Clinton for saying she has high negatives, so what will they say now.

Jesus, the Pundiits at CNN and MSNBC have harped on about this for a month, i hope someone hits them with it.

17. Actually, those aren't the most important numbers. The vote for/against numbers are.
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 02:14 PM by Occam Bandage
Obama:

29% For
36% Against

Clinton:

30% For
47% Against

Those are the people who have already made up their minds.

Clinton has to convince 21% to vote for her; if 4% vote against she loses.
Obama has to convince 22% to vote for him; if 15% vote against he loses.

16. The big difference
is that Hillary's unfavorables are in cement and though her unfavorable #s may increase they will never decrease. She has way too much history behind her and those that hate her will hate her no matter what she does.

Obama may have the hardcore racists giving him unfavorables, but there are many more people who can be swayed into the favorable category if he is the nominee. He does not have the personal history to engender 'hate' (other than racists).

Obama's figures were good and in the space of 3 weeks have gone from good to plain awful.

I think thats very telling of what people think of him. He's being looked at differently now. About time.

21. EDWARDS has the best ratings
Favorable minus unfavorable are better for him than for HRC or BO

He beats McCain by the biggest margin.

Of course, it's Rasmussen, and not sure how much confidence to place in this poll.

As you say, with more scrutiny the unfavorable ratings are bound to increase.

What was the sampling group---just Dems, all voters of all parties?
