I was high school freshman when JFK was elected and today Caroline brought me to tears
I was a Kucinich supporter and intend to caucus for Edwards. But she took my memory way back to remember the good things about Kennedy and that election of 1960.

In August of 1963 I went to D.C. to march and hear Dr. King. And I remember with crystal clarity how we got the news of the JFK assassination that November. I was a senior and in my home room class sitting with all my best girlfriends at Bishop McDonnell Memorial HS in Brooklyn.

For me, today has become a day of reflection.

1. The whole thing was magical to me. And now I know I'm a
few years younger than you. ;) I also remember when JFK was killed, and the funereal atmosphere that pervaded my parents' house for days, tube constantly going, getting as much info as they could. But you could cut the sadness with a knife.

5. Our net connection has been going in and out....
Yes, cutting the sadness with a knife - so true. It all came back pretty strong today.

2. she's lovely isn't she. I miss MLK and JFK and RFK so much any
more. I pity anyone not old enough to have been in their time.

3. I was 6
I remember walking to mass and having women come screaming out of their homes telling the nuns that we all had to pray for the President.

I remember their love for their children which left me with the sense that everybody, even children, were important to the President.

I so want our country to aspire to greatness again.

12. We were all let out of school
I used to take 3 trains to school. That trip home was eerie. I remember how nobody on the trains was conversing.

8. You deserve to feel good about the country
It certainly has been a robbery for too long.

6. She brought me to tears, too
They all did....I wondered if it was because they made me feel young again. I was eight years old when JFK was elected. My Dad was very active in politics and my parents let me stay up to watch the returns come in :-).

All that hope and optimism has been lacking for a long, long time.

10. Yup, it wasn't just sex, drugs and rock n' roll
It was a time of so much serious change. TV came into its own and remember how very much we saw on the tv during those years. So much history.

13. If Jr. were around, she would be endorsing HIM. HE was the Heir apparent.
