The Hill: Bush shook hands with Obama, called him "buddy"
After his speech, Bush sought out Kennedy, his former partner in education reform, to exchange greetings. He also shook Obama’s hand and said hello in typical Bush fashion: “Hey buddy, how’s it going,” he said, according to Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.), who also sat next to Obama for the speech.

3. Hillary's not his "buddy"
:wtf:

I think the whole handshake thing is a non-issue, but why is Obama on "buddy" terms with Bush? That worries me.

"Buddy" is typical Bush smarm talk and its usually sarcastic.
But please, don't let that get in the way of your next Obama/rightwing conspiracy tale.

8. this was interesting
"Clinton and Obama’s divergent views on the troop surge in Iraq, however, were plainly visible.

When Bush proclaimed, “Ladies and gentlemen, some may deny the surge is working, but among terrorists there is no doubt,” Clinton sprang to her feet in applause but Obama remained firmly seated. The president’s line divided most of the Democratic audience, with nearly half standing to applaud and the other half sitting in stony silence.

In one instance Clinton appeared to gauge Obama’s response before showing her own.

When Bush warned the Iranian government that “America will confront those who threaten our troops, we will stand by our allies, and we will defend our vital interests in the Persian Gulf” Obama jumped up to applaud. Clinton leaned across Sen. Joseph Biden (D-Del.), seated to her left, to look in Obama’s direction before slowly standing. "

12. No Idea
GWB probably called him 'Buddy' because he really has no idea who Barack Obama is. I'm sure he didn't shake Mrs. Clinton's hand because GWB confused her with his wife...they were both wearing red, after all...and he obviously hasn't touched Mrs. Bush in years!

I don't take it as meaning to be disrespectful of Obama at all. Junior seems to greet most people in this child-like manner.

Unless someone can prove to me that Barack and GW hang out and watch football together.

20. Just another reason I can't support
this weasel Obama. This just proves how me he loves the Repubs and how much they love him. First, Obama praises Reagan to the rafters, then he turns away from HRC after she tries to shake his hand, now he's getting called "buddy" by his good friend President Nitwit. Why can't people see that a vote for Obama is just like a vote for the republican establishment??

You are joking? You forgot the little sarcasm thingy. I hope?

On second thought with your avatar, you are probably serious. Oh dear I think you really mean what you wrote.

Oh and welcome to DU.

23. What makes you think I'm being sarcastic?
Thank you for the welcome, but please. . . Don't tell me you're really considering supporting that man. I can't believe that a place that says it's for Democrats has posters who don't support the Clintons. It's really sad, and I feel bad for all you who have been tricked by that man.

I have noticed that there are some very well-informed HRC supporters on this board who have their priorities straight, which makes me feel a bit better about the situtation in this country right now.

24. Welcome to DU
Let me give you a little hint, there are many supporters of Obama, Edwards and Clinton on here. Saying things like this, "I can't believe that a place that says it's for Democrats has posters who don't support the Clintons." isn't going to get you very far.

Be for your candidate, don't demean and put down the supporters of the other candidates.

25. I am supporting "that man."
What do you mean about a Democratic site that allows posters that do not support HRC?

No wouldn't that be Hillary Underground? This site welcomes supporters of all our candidates.

I guess you think that Senator Kerry, our 04 standard bearer, Senator Edward Kennedy,
Jack and Jackie's daughter Caroline Kennedy, Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill, Tom Hayden,
Illinois Senator Durbin and former Senator Tom Daschle to name a few have been tricked
by this "terrible" man.

Oh, I almost forgot the author Toni Morrison. You know the one that called Bill
"the first black president." She got duped too.

What in the hell are you talking about. Support Hillary all you want.

Leave some room here for the rest of us.
