Maybe Hillary requires preconditions for her handshakes

When Hillary walked onstage Thursday, Obama stood to her left waiting to shake hands and say hi, as he and Edwards had done with Chris Dodd. She turned her body away, refused to meet his eyes and froze him out. Again. And he looked taken aback. Again.

The relationship began to change, according to several Democrats who are friendly to both senators, when Mr. Obama began musing aloud about a presidential bid. The day he opened his exploratory committee, several Senate observers said, he extended his hand and said hello on the Senate floor. She breezed by him, offering a cool stare.

1. The contingent that tries to blame Obama is sort of silly because
he is obviously more at ease in social situations than Clinton is.

Sorry if it got under your skin. :hi:

PS. I could care less if Hillary did snub Obama but since people like you posted about it 1,000 times tonight I assumed it was something important to you.

See, I knew at least ONE of you Obama supporters could be complementary and gracious.

Unlike, you know, your candidate.

27. Because all of this handshake business it total and utter bullshit
and people are downright dumbasses for making a big deal out of it, especially because they don't even know what the fuck happened.

3. If she systematically decided to shun him, then approach him here when he was with Kennedy
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 03:58 AM by Levgreee
to talk to Kennedy... knowing he was already unhappy because she had already gave him the cold shoulder...this is even more duplicitous...

God, this woman is sneaky.

10. She used her secret time machine
to travel back to 1961 and convince his parents to give him his middle name.

"Go ahead... it's a great name! Be proud of it!"

She's crafty all right.

Surrender now. You can't beat that kind of evil.

8. Here is the video of Hillary snubbing Obama!
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 04:08 AM by Levgreee
Start at minute one. Edwards comes out, Dodds comes next, shakes hands with Edwards. Obama comes out, shakes hands with Dodd. Clinton comes out, turns her back away from Obama as soon as she gets close.

Poor manners, eh?

11. Very poor manners
It would be dishonest to deny that Hillary has repeatedly snubbed Obama... But not the night before a big primary (we all know those delegates will be seated) when the news of the day SHOULD have been the Kennedy endorsement. Obama could have afforded to show some of that Uniter not a Divider class we're hearing so much about. Now he's going into Florida, and Super Tuesday, with THIS as the big story.

18. Decency
This was a mistake at a time Obama couldn't really afford to make one. Hillary 'was' classy coming over to shake hands, and the world will never know if SHE intended to snub Obama or not. He beat her to the punch. If she'd done it, everyone would have said "It's just Hillary being nasty again." But more is expected from Obama precisely because his candidacy is based on decency and hope... He just blew his SC bounce and Kennedy endorsement in one shot, just like he lost his Iowa bounce with "You're likable *enough*."

Is Obama nicer than Hillary? Probably so. But that doesn't negate a mistake like this, which is exactly the kind of thing the press lives for.

19. Even if he tries very hard to seek unity
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 04:27 AM by Levgreee
if someone has purposely tried to egg him on and snub him... he is human, and he can't ALWAYS show a face of complete acceptance and pleasantry.

if 999 out of 1000 of his actions match his message of unity, it only contradicts his message of unity superficially, not in reality.

21. I agree
I saw the video posted above. I'm certain Obama was expecting a handshake from Clinton (He shook Dodd's hand, then Dodd shook Edwards' hand). That and the various race-baiting throughout the campaign.

I don't know why the Hillary Clinton supporters think the photo is great for them. There IS a story behind it after all and they are just ignoring it.

22. 'he can't ALWAYS show a face of complete acceptance and pleasantry' - not even at the SOTU?
Bush's last SOTU where you would think that Democratic senators would stand in solidarity and out of campaign mode, even for one night. So much for Hope! Change! Unity!
