CNN: State of the Union: Awkward moment
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/01/28/state-of-the-union-awkward-moment/

WASHINGTON (CNN) – It could have been a moment for Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to demonstrate the civility they say we need in our politics.

Oh, well.

Before the President entered the House Chamber for the State of the Union address, Clinton took a seat three chairs and an aisle away from Obama. While members of Congress were still greeting one another, Clinton crossed the aisle to speak with Democratic Rep. Jim Langvin of Rhode Island, a Clinton supporter. He was seated in front of Obama.

While Clinton was bent over talking to Langvin, who has been in a wheelchair since age 16, the senator sitting next to Barack Obama watched Clinton intently. It was Sen. Ted Kennedy, who had made a splash by endorsing Obama earlier in the day.

Here’s where it could have happened.

When Clinton straightened up, Kennedy quickly reached across Barack Obama to shake Clinton’s hand. She took it. As they spoke, Obama turned away. Then the senators seated to Obama’s right – Ben Nelson and Ken Salazar — both shook Senator Clinton’s hand and talked to her. Instead of doing the same, Obama turned to look at the back of the room. Sen. Claire McCaskill, who has also endorsed Obama and was seated next to Kennedy, reached across the Massachusetts senator — who was still talking to Clinton — and tapped Obama (still twisted toward the back of the room) on the shoulder. McCaskill engaged Obama in conversation until the moment passed.

It all lasted less than five minutes. Neither acknowledged the other all night

1. This is why I wouldn't vote for that arrogant SOB if he was the last candidate
on Earth. His arrogance is only surpassed by his opportunism and his feeling that he is 'entitled' to this nomination.

2. I think he really really doesn't like her. He did something similar
last Fall during the Iraq filibuster. I was really surprised. This time, it's not such a shocker for me. Sure does make me wonder about his ability to do a stressful job though.

4. Yep. If he's that way with Hillary its hard to fathom how he'd handle true opposition.
Not a good indicator to me, no matter how anyone wants to explain it away.

5. I'm so glad to read these comments from people who are REALLY
questioning the tool--Obama. I don't like the way the msm is engineering election results for him and the sheeple who are brainwashed by faux and msnbc and cnn need to get over the rock star.
Hillary's the one to run this country for ALL people.

Bill Clinton complements obama's winning campaign, like Jessy Jackson's, and the msm twists it into a racial smear. To quote someone I like....'Give me a break'. It's the repug msm masters who are generating this racial/gender divide.

6. Barack nor Clinton is my candidate, but I did hope for
some civility in my party between these two "spoiled" brats, and I might add, their supporters as well. I was embarrassed watching that spectacle. They remind me of my teenage grandchildren. So petty! Go John!

9. I think she approaches when she's not welcome sometime.
I think she went over there and Ted played political while Obama didn't want anything to do with her. The image of Obama with his arms crossed indicate someone with some worry.

10. You know what I wish?
"What's that, Rub?" (Obscure movie reference)

I with CNN would invest one-tenth the energy they devote to the Clinton-Obama gossip to something that actually matters. Like 935 lies. Or war crimes. Or crimes against humanity. You know, things done in our name with our tax dollars that will serve up repercussions on us for decades to come.

13. All the MSM is "in the minute " news.
We're a fast food, sound bite country these days. Or so they would like it to be.
