3. Probably in the same vicinity as Edwards' primary wins.
Sorry to say, but that's about the size of it.

8. Get real!
I support Edwards and I've seen a lot of him on TV. He just hasn't gotten the votes. What happened in NV, SC?????
I wish he'd win a state or two, but he can't win one.
Oh, btw, to hell with hillary.

7. It's just cynical politics
Most people issue endorsements solely to curry favor with who they perceive the winner will ultimately be. It usually has jack-all to do with actually BELIEVING in anything. It just illustrates how calculated the whole process actually is. Sad, huh?

9. The Democratic Party is very alive. Edwards isn't favored by many.
His positions are so at variance with how he voted as Senator and acted as VP candidate, that few believe in him, or know what he really believes in.

18. The DC Dems are an inbred freak show
They are so compromised by lobbyists and corporate money, they look exactly like GOP'ers on most days.

That's what happens when dirty money influences Dem politics. You get faux Dem candidates awash in dirty cash who mouth platitudes on expensive television campaigns who have no intention of doing what they say if elected.

20. You mean Edwards is genuine this time? And phony four years ago?
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 10:34 AM by robcon
At least you think you know which version is real. I don't know him as well.

But I suspect his current positioning is simply a marketing ploy to differentiate Edwards from his competitors for the nomination. I think Edwards chose this direction so that he could campaign against Clinton/Obama - with whom he otherwise held nearly identical positions in the center of the Democratic Party.

Edwards would be a fine president - the same as Clinton or Obama, IMO.

22. More myths about Edwards voting record
Study up a little if you care more about your country and your party than you do about celebrity candidates.

17. No doubt Dems in Congress are afraid to endorse Edwards
Obama and Clinton are nasty and vindictive and are sending the message that there will be hell to pay for any DC Dem who endorses Edwards. No great loss, since they're all about as popular as the GOP these days.

OTOH, they already screwed over the Dems at the state level, so will have a hard time pressuring them.

impeach Bush and Cheney, but hell no, don't have time, gotta keep those corporations happy that put them in office.

19. As a candidate he
can propose anything he likes. If he wanted to, he could easily call upon the Democratic Party to impeach. The fact is - he doesn't believe that Bush should be impeached - he has never said it - never advocated it - never called for it - never supported it.

15. Probably also afraid of the front runners
both of whom prefer to retaliate and kick the shit out of fellow Democrats than go after Republicans. What a pair. :eyes:

14. Edwards' endorsements are at the state and local level
He's picking up endorsements from Dem leaders outside the beltway - the ones who are trying to run their state governments, take care of the poor and sick and can't run a deficit like Bush can.

Edwards is NOT likely to get any endorsements from Congressional Dems - that's a club all unto itself and will only support its own candidates. Not a great loss considering how spineless and lackluster the current crop of Dems in Congress have been and how unpopular they are with the voting public.

Most Dem governors are going to sit on the sidelines for fear of retaliation. Most of DC doesn't care much about the states and the governors have to protect their own interests.

Edwards is picking up a lot of endorsements from state Dem leaders and state level union leaders. Don't look for any celebrity Dem elected officials to endorse Edwards yet. They may come later. Most are afraid of some negative fallout from the two front runners, both of whom are likely to retaliate against anyone who doesn't support them.
