19. OK...I'll refute one
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 05:25 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
I read the very first one...the one about Obama's Negative Mail Falesly Accusing Hillary.

What were the main points in contention:

1. Obama says Hillary supported NAFTA..."hillaryhub" says not so.

OK...so Hillary is saying that Oabama's attack is false because Obama doesn't know what she thinks, not that Hillary hasn't been a proponent of the job-bleeding NAFTA program. This is a REALLY, REALLY hair-splitting argument. Hillary supports NAFTA, her voting record shows it, her rhetorical record shows it, etc. This is not looking good for "Hillaryhub"...I would expect a more solid line of reasoning than "you don't know me".

2. Obama accuses Clinton of taking money from Washington lobbyists, and "Hillaryhub" refutes that by listing a bunch of lobbyists.

I do not see how Obama's attack is false. Hillary did defend taking money from Washington lobbyists in a public forum. She can't run away from it now. Giving me a "Rolodex" of every time Obama came within earshot of the employee of a lobbying firm and received benefit doesn;t cover the fact that Hillary has taken money from lobbyists and PACs directly. From the article that Hillaryhub is using as evidence:

Obama's courting of lobbying firm employees who aren't branded with the scarlet "L" comes close to the $280,450 take of presidential rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

"This is not a perfect solution," Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki said when asked about the donors. "Barack Obama's decision to not accept money from federal lobbyists or PACs is not only different from the policy of several other candidates in the race but is also clear evidence of his own refusal to allow any group or outside party to influence his decision making."

Judging by the numbers, former North Carolina Sen. Edwards has spent less time cultivating the lobbying community, picking up only $46,900. And, his campaign said, most of those donors live outside Washington.

"Suggesting that anyone who works for a company that also employs lobbyists is somehow connected to lobbying is like saying that any bank teller at Citibank or any cashier at Wal-Mart has a connection to lobbying," Edwards' deputy campaign manager, Jonathan Prince, said in an e-mail. "We're trying to reduce the influence of lobbyists, not people who might run into them at company picnics."

So the argument becomes more hair-splitting again. Are lobbyists' employees lobbyists? I frankly do not care if the gesture is symbolic or not...you don't take the money directly, you don't have the obligations to make them happy.

So that is two arguments of the first link shot to hell...they are hair-splitting and smack of desperation. I really do not care about the rest if this is the kind of argumentation made on "Hillaryhub". It is all just a collection of one-sided, specious argumentation that ardent supporters will adhere to but anyone who is would shrug and say "big deal".

Here is an idea....run a campaign that is not based on bullshit smears. Focus on issues....do not say "but he's as bad as I am". It doesn't work.

By the way, I'm not an Obama supporter, but I do like watching Hillary and her DLC juggernaut flail in their own excrement. The endless smears and the breathless reporting of questionable assertions smell desperate, and is not lost on a well-informed community like DU.

25. LOL
Seriously. If you are going to advocate for a candidate, learn to argue and stop making an ass of yourself.

For one, your argument is a non-sequitir. I made no mention of any Kennedy in my post. All I did was show what kind of arguments the opening screed was trying to list, and I responded because the said OP had actually made the challenge for anyone to refute anything there. Unlike the smarter people on this thread, I decided to actually look. Having done that, I decided to refute.

If you are going to respond to my post, please be topical. Also, use correct English, if possible. Sound bytes don't get you anywhere.

By the way, I am not an Obama supporter, so your long knife can be put away. I do, however, despise the DLC and their quest to silence the influence of the grassroots in the Democratic party and reduce the ability of the American worker to secure a future. If Hillary doesn't win the nomination, I think that it means a stronger Democratic party, not the weak lapdog to the Republicans that the DLC has engineered.

That's where I'm coming from. So respect your candidate and try to represent her like a civil human being, not a squawk-box that spouts off non-topical soundbytes when anyone decides to engage in debate. It's transparent and will not garner you any votes for your candidate.

The Daily Mail (U.K. paper) may be a typical British tabloid, but someone has written a very unflattering account of Obama's father based on interviews with friends and relatives in Kenya in the last few days.
