For Clinton supporters: Has your candidate advocated universal single payer health care?
Not some bullshit scheme with insurance companies involved, but a system like in Canada or Europe. You know, like the systems described in "Sicko".

6. Some have, yes.
But why the need to deflect the question by asking about others? I'm asking about Hillary, specifically.

22. Because unless the speaker proposes how to pay for a program, it's BS. n/t

2. Has anybody but Kucinich?
Everybody seems to know its a no-go. The strengths of Hillary's plan is that its universal, which means everybody has it. With the healthy forced to pay in, she has enough to subsidize care for all the poor. Last I looked, Obama was allowing the healthy to go uninsured, so though he was talking about subsidizing for the poor as well, I was less sure where the money was coming from.

8. This isn't about Kucinich or Obama, or anyone else
It was asked about Hillary. Please confine your answer to Hillary.

13. Okay, here's something else about it.
I appears to me that Hillary's plan allows for consumers to choose between government and private health insurance, and that there are mechanisms that will be in place to directly compare them. If the for-profit health insurance comes out being worse than the government insurance (which takes no profit) than it could easily be chosen in masse over the private ones, which puts us very close to a single-payer type system.

3. She has advocated universal health insurance, where people can choose
a government run plan or private plans.

So has John Edwards.

And the two of them are still actually in the race -- no one who advocates universal single payer is still running.

9. You seem to be saying that single payer doesn't work
And that we need to have a profit motive to somehow ensure we can get health care.

Do you honestly believe that?

And why the need to refer to Edwards and 'others'?

The question was about Hillary.

24. I haven't said that at all.
Though politically speaking, it would be a lot harder to get through Congress.

Both Edwards and Clinton are setting up a system that will allow the government plan to compete with the private. As more people voluntarily move to the better, cheaper government plan, the private plans will wither away.

4. No, she has not.
Her plan contains elements that could lead to single payer but it is not single payer.

Can you elaborate on the "elements that could lead to single payer"?

10. Great link, get that out there.
It seriously takes things like this to cut through the hype and see the reality. They are ALL mass improvements, but some are better than others...

15. You can determine whatever you like
So long as there are a brazillion stupid fucking threads about stupid fucking things that lack even the most stupid fucking meaning clogging up the system, why would **anyone** object to three threads a day - just three - asking the very same question of each of the candidates' supporters?

Unless the answers make people uncomfortable?

23. Heh ... you know ..... you say maybe health care isn't a high priority for "some of us"
Then you say you and your family are "well covered".

That's a very Republican attitude. "I got mine/fuck you" is how it comes off. You don't place a high priority on universal health care.

Do you think you might feel differently if, all your life, you battled a chronic condition and found yourself uninsurable. If you were forced to choose between your kid's aching tooth and a week's (month's?) meals for the family? How about if you were to suffer a fall, be uninsured, and be unable to work, all the while with the car and house payments each 4 months' past due because of your earlier fall at work?

Compassion, empathy, and concern for your fellow man. Those are kinda basic to being a fully realized, fully evolved human.

I'm just sayin' ........

17. Great question. I have always wondered about this myself.
I can't seem to get a straight answer whenever I research the Health Care plans of Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. If they do not follow the model of Canada and Europe, then I will be very upset.
