Keith Olberman -"Many Florida Democrats Think They Have A Primary But They Don't"
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 06:03 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
That's the problem...I speak to a lot of rank and file, read not activist Democrats in Orlando and most of them have no idea that delegates will not be seated by the DNC... When I explain to them what's going on they give me a wide eyed look...

And that's not spin...

3. The state leaders never owned up to what they did.
And now, yes, all of a sudden people are stunned that the state delegates don't count. Someone I know called today to verify. I thought he knew for sure.

It's stunning how they never presented what they did to the electorate.

4. Exactly
The average Democrat who shows up the polls and votes but isn't a political junkie has absolutely no idea of what is going on...

11. That is not what I said??
Florida did not get hotel room reservations from the DNCC, the convention committee. MI had them but they were cancelled when the state lost their delegates.

I think Bill Nelson Pied Piper them to Denver anyway.

Nelson: "I will lead the delegates to Denver whether or not the DNC plans to let them in."

5. That's Not What I Found
I've been asked by a lot of Democrats who aren't activists, but show up to vote whether or not our primary matters if we don't have delegates.

I haven't talked to any Democratic voter who had no idea our delegates had been stripped.

12. Maybe They Aren't - That's The Problem
Maybe they haven't been voting, which helped that property tax scam pass.

7. yea maybe so
but my advice to any Florida democrats is to go out and vote anyway-this state screwed me over for not voting in 98 and took my name off the rolls and refused my voting attempt in 2000-it was too crowded that day during the mid-terms and I had to get to work I don't trust this state and will never make THAT mistake again

8. Never Had A Problem Voting Thankfully
I once had to vote at a church and had to pass all these right wing books about abortion but that's about it...

9. It's better that way. The local party considers the votes "counting," since they will be seated...
...at the convention. The turnout would certainly be lower if they were told that their votes didn't count when they clearly do. :)
