Has there ever been a discussion here...

A real discussion. Where one person says something, the other person responds to what was said, then a response to HE said?

It's nothing by screaming over each other, based on people's affiliations. People are composing their responses before they even READ a post, based on avatars.

I don't expect it's ever going to change, but it sucks because I really *LIKE* discussing politics, especially electoral politics. But it doesn't seem possible at even the smallest level.

intelligant posts tend to get intelligent responses, its up to you to develop it into an intelligent conversation. I have them all the time.

I can't give you the links that you want. But really, do I need to? You know as well as I do that you've slung just as much shit around as anybody around here, and you've taken perfectly civil posts and come in and trashed them just because they dared to criticize your candidate.

It's not that I dislike your avatar, since I dislike all current Dem options about equally. It is the fact that you are pleading for a civility that you yourself lack. You run with a gang of fellow Clinton supporter that spew shit all over these boards and trash anybody that gets in your way.

I fully admit that I'm a pitbull on the boards, hence my nick, but I go after issues and ideas, not people. You have flamed my ass on more than one occasion, not with counter arguments, but with ad hominems and personal attacks.

Yet here you are, pleading for civility. Physician, heal thyself.

I've never slammed a candidate with nonsensical stuff, even the ones I don't like.

I've disagreed with some, and I've expressed WHY I disagree.

And yes, I go after people, but always because they behaved badly, never because of who they support. Never.

I've never used a group name along the lines of "hillbot" or "Obamanation". Never.

I've never posted a blog entry or editorial that slammed a candidate. Never.

I think you might have me confused with somebody else, or else you're seeing something that's not there, just based on my avatar.

I HAVE criticized supporters of ALL candidates, when they behave atrociously. I HAVE defended ALL candidates against ludicrous attacks.

I'm no saint, by any means, but you're just wrong. If I have failed in my attempts, it's been exceedingly rare.

DU has always been a battleground, but I remember a lot more give and take, where discussion of a topic actually continued along down the thread. It's a rarity now.

And what's with this subject line trick of saying one thing and you click in and it's some kind of cutesy surprise OP? - made you look, made you look. Who has time for that?
