I telephoned the DNC today. Here are the facts about MI and FL
And let me first state that I am a Michigan resident so this is personal..

According to the DNC, the Michigan and Florida delegates will not be considered when chosing the parties nominee.

AFTER the nominee is chosen, the nominee can then seat the delegates at the convention.

The DNC was very clear that the votes in Michigan and Florida have absolutely NOTHING to do with determining the nominee of the party due to the moving up of there respective primaries.

1. That's how I've heard it. It really is a cluster fuck.
Too bad. I'd have liked a clean, straight primary season.

2. I don't know if this'll make you feel any better, but the exercise has
an impact - casting a ballot is meaningful for a campaign's momentum. And in the end, it may lead to real reform, so your sacrifice is appreciated.

3. Well, of course they are going to give you the official position
Every thing can change, the peoples voices in those 2 states have been silenced.

Why would the DNC want to disenfranchise all of these voters who did nothing wrong except do their civic duty?

They take away the power of the vote by force and violence in other countries, here the DNC wants to do it with a pen.

4. Isn't that ver batim from the 44 website?
These states knew exactly what they were doing to their citizens by pursuing this; it was Clinton advisor Terry MCAuliffe who created the rule in the first place.

It's not the DNC disenfranchising voters; it's their own state parties, who are run by de facto republicans who couldn't get elected unless there is a D next to their name.

6. I wrote it myself, I have never visited 44.
Any rule that silences this many people is immoral.

5. Those are the rules. clinton know this. Call them yourself.
The rules are going to be adhered to by the DNC. Sorry to disappoint you.

9. The DNC did not disenfranchise voters: the state parties did
The national party--and that includes all the state chairs, etc.--decided on rules for primaries last year. Florida and Michigan Democratic party leaders decided to break those rules. What else is the DNC to do? If they don't enforce their own, democratically devised rulings, what good is there having a party structure?

(Given the intellectual capacity of some posters here, I'm not sure I want to hear an answer to that last question).

22. The question becomes: Who do you bitch at?
It aint the DNC. They tried to fix this, they really did. The states however insisted upon playing their little power play to the bitter end.

Call them and complain.

14. Absolutely they are 40% of the vote
Here is the info on it
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18277678

this is why Teddy endorsing Obama is so important. It lets all the dems know they can switch to Obama with their super delegate votes.

8. Is Hillary risking the wrath of the DNC by insisting that the delegates be seated?
She's really trying to strong-arm the DNC.

Could this come back to haunt her in the endorsement of superdelegates and, possibly, in a brokered convention?

11. I really don't think they care...
lie, cheat and steal is becoming their motto. Lawsuit in Vegas? Trying to change the rules they agreed to there. Same shit, different state.

The question is, who next?

Sooner, rather than later, this starts to hurt them big time.

but whoever it is, it can't come soon enough for me. It has to already have hurt them. I can not believe how much my opinion of them both, has changed in such a short space of time. This is unforgivable.

10. Sounds fair to me.
I've been a delegate, and delegates know the rules. It was a bold move by MI and FL, but the DNC made their decision. Party faithful (including the current presidential candidates) should, and have promised, to abide by the rules.

I understand Howard Dean plans to clarify this further Wednesday morning.

12. Now that's a good thing!
I don't know if people are not aware of how this came about, or if their just trying to spin what they think will work. Clarification will be good for the former, but won't mean anything to the latter.

13. Michigan and Florida party leaders screwed their members, they need to be voted out
snip...

Karen Thurman, chairwoman of the Florida Democratic Party, said in a late afternoon conference call with reporters today that she intends to go ahead with the state’s primary on Jan. 29. Even if the Democratic National Committee follows through with its threat to take away Florida delegates, she says she believes the nominee of the party will intercede and allow the delegates to be counted at the party’s nominating convention in Denver.

24. This is primary delegates, not electoral votes in the GE
All it determines is who the nominee will be. Other than that, it has no effect on the general election.
