Can we stop with the "Billary" shit please?
Sen. Clinton isn't my candidate, but I'm getting sick and tired of seeing "Billary" on what is supposed to be a Democratic message board. If I wanted to see that crap I'd read FR or listen to wingnut radio.

17. Well it COULD stop
with a simple rule saying it's prohibited.

You're a mod - you see what's going on. There's no penalty for being a dick, and no reward for being good. It's getting worse here every day. Literally - each day is worse than the one before.

Flamebait, personal attacks, right-wing sources - things that for YEARS were forbidden here seem to be allowed now.

Can you give us ANY hope that some rules we be implemented and enforced?

Scores, if not hundreds, of DUers who could contribute here don't because it's a cesspool. And this is the ONLY place on DU to discuss electoral politics.

Those of who enjoy political discussion are just overwhelmed by the assholes, the trolls, the children.

Will there be any attempt to improve things? Or is this Lord of the Flies?

28. translation: Clinton not ready for primetime
Even without the aid of a crystal ball, I can safely predict that nothing said here at DU will be nearly as harsh as what makes it into the MSM for months on end during the general election. So if the Clintonistas can't handle 'Billary' now (which I find a useful moniker to describe how she is trying to ride his coat tails and accomplishments while simultaneously wriggling away from the Big Dawg's failures), then is their candidate really the one to take-on war-hero-(but flaming hypocrite)-McCain or Slick-Mitt-the-Prick-Shit or any of the other Repub's?

Maybe not. 'Cuz I know that it's gonna be 24/7 Billary-Billary-Clenis-Billary- Waco-Lewinsky-Billary-Clenis-Billary-NAFTA-Billary-Marc-Rich-Billary-Clenis-Blue- dress-Billary-Clenis if she wins the nomination, with a healthy dollop of Iraq War vote on top (meaning all the cable-bloviators will be able to run with the meme "the war iz really teh Democrats' fault" thus obliviating what should be a major advantage for Dem's this year). I think that we Dem's could shed the Barack-Hussein-Obama-Madrassa-Muslimassa-Rezko-out-the-assa nonsense much more easily. The fact that BHO can deliver a great speech and stay cool under pressure are just two more of the many reasons as to why he is the better candidate.

Just my $.02, sent to you at a 100% discount via the inter-tubes.

37. I disagree. Primaries = Vetting
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 10:16 PM by app_farmer_rb
One of the purposes of a primary is to test our candidates' mettle. An unfortunate corollary of this is that poo will fly, and yes, Democrats will be the ones flinging it early-on. But if we take notes as to who ducks successfully and which ones have it stuck to their noses, we may gain insight into who can weather the Repub-Corporatist-shitstorm that is to come.

-app

Edited to add that since Hillary (see, I can use her real name) seems to spend a lot of time bragging about how she has been vetted and tested already, she and her fans should be the least concerned about name-calling. The problem is that she already has lots of (metaphorical) poo on her nose and no amount of denial will change that...

44. look, I want a Dem to win in the REAL WORLD
If you want to spend your time constructing a virtual fairy tale land where the lovely Queen Hill has successfully banished all the BlueDress Meanies with a wave of her husband's magic cigar, then be my guest. But don't claim I'm a freeper just because I am paying attention to how a candidate will fare in THIS world in the GENERAL ELECTION. I find that DU is an excellent place to undertake this latter exercise. YMMV.

38. I posted this yesterday
Its a right wing term, period. If the news media is using it ad nauseum, its not because its "mainstream", but because they are finally showing their right wing black hearts.

Unless you want a DU'er to label you a right wing poseur, don't use it.

Until she can prove that she's her own person and able to stand without the help of Bill, she will keep that moniker in my book.
