Let's go over this handshake snub thing again now that Hillary's lying about it.

She reaches right past Ted Kennedy and Obama can't even see her since some big woman is blocking the view, but she's lying about it now saying that she tried to shake his hand because Bill and the rest of her advisers are telling her to lie through the secret earpiece.

8. How so?
These pictures clearly show that he was already turned away before Hillary extended her hand to Obama.

How does that hurt Obama?

17. Those pics are devastating for Obama - You ask "How so?" Like this -
And a rec to the Zockster for giving us this series of pics, the best yet.

First, we have all seen by now the side-view, eye-level pics of this incident. There's one of Obama looking directly at Hillary, rather stonily, as she comes into view.

Now to the Zoc pics -- which are clearly in this order:
1,2
3,4.

Pic 1: (Top left) Hill approaches the vicinity of Ted and Barack, saying Hi to the man with glasses and thinning hair on top (which Senator it is, I don't know.) As she's coming close, Obama is now gazing fixedly at the rostrum, although of course Bush isn't anywhere near there yet. He knows she's there, but pretends not to notice.

Pic 2: (Top right) Hill sees Ted, Ted leans forward towards her, arm slightly extended, preparing to shake. Obama choses this very moment, when a Ted/Hill handshake becomes clearly imminent, to pivot counter-clockwise to his left. Notice that Barack never ceases to clap all throughout the sequence, far more assiduously than anyone else we can see -- he's keeping his hands busy doing other things than shaking, that's for sure. Do you also see a slight bit of a bend in Obama's torso? He's about to make his move, which becomes clear in --

Pic 3: (Bottom left) the Hill/Ted handshake is at the point of engagement. Obama continues to pivot away to his left, looking away from her. Look at the bottom right corner of the pic: Obama's left leg and left side bottom of his suit jacket are clearly visible, and are clearly in motion. It looks to me pretty clearly that his left leg is steping outward and forward, to shift himself behind Ted and further away from Hillary.

Pic 4: The Hill/Ted handshake looks to be near its zenith. And Obama HAS taken a neat step with his left leg. He's heading down towards the bottom-right area of the picture. Notice the SEATS behind Ted and Obama. Barack clearly took advantage of Ted's necessary lean-over towards Hillary to shimmy his way past the old man, further away from That Mean Lady who might put an end to all his youthful dreams of change and hope, and oh yeah, being the next JFK.

And he never stops clapping.

is breathtaking.

Maybe you should do further research and write a book about this non-handshake.

Don't expect those who support Obama to see things you way. Unless this is widely publicized, only people who are really into politics will know about this so it will be irrelevant anyway.

Mouths are not open every second of a conversation. People talking to each other can be caught in a frame with their mouths closed. People even close their eyes sometimes when they are agreeing or disagreeing with something someone said.

Actually, this discussion is ridiculous - I can't even believe it's happening

29. This has been going on since BO announced his exploratory committee
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/07/us/politics/07rivals.html?_r=1&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&oref=slogin

'Consider a scene from the Capitol on a recent evening. It was a few minutes after 8 p.m. when the side doors of the Senate swung open and three Democratic candidates walked through.

Mrs. Clinton, of New York, and Senator Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut came first, laughing as they made their way to the Democratic side of the aisle. A few paces behind was Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, who quickly joined them. Mr. Obama, of Illinois, entered the Senate floor alone. He glanced at the other three, then pulled out his BlackBerry and paused for a few seconds before taking a seat next to three freshman senators. As the evening passed, Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton each spoke to several Republicans and to nearly every Democrat — except each other.

It was not always this way.

When Mr. Obama was running for the Senate in 2004, Mrs. Clinton once sat on the tarmac waiting out a lightning storm to fly to Chicago for a fund-raiser on his behalf. After he arrived in Washington in 2005, he studied her first year in office and worked to keep a similarly studious and low profile. After Hurricane Katrina, he joined Mrs. Clinton and former President Bill Clinton as they visited storm evacuees in Houston.

The relationship began to change when Mr. Obama began musing aloud about a presidential bid. The day he opened his exploratory committee, several Senate observers said, he extended his hand and said hello on the Senate floor. She breezed by him, offering a cool stare.'

-----

Ridiculous that this non-incident is still being discussed here on DU. As though someone could somehow pin this particular exchange on one or the other of them. And as though it would really matter if they could.

That's about the level of the primary, superficial.

And what's with the red, red, red. OK, we notice you already!

That's about the coolest presentation of pictures I've seen in a while. Excellent narrative.
I'm being serious here as opposed to the sartorial critique. For your story, the red is perfect.

35. LOOK at the pictures!!!
It's obvious that she was reaching out to shake Obama's hand, who was CLOSER to her than Kennedy, and then Obama just turned away. He might as well have just spat in her face while he was at it.

And, come on . . . Do you REALLY think Hillary's going to lie about offering to shake his hand??
First, if it was false, it could easily be proven false, and don't think for a second that HRC's that dumb.
Second, what does she have to gain? Nothing!! Obama's already been exposed for the classless twit he is.

This just defies belief, the extent people on this website go try to "catch" HRC in a lie. It's really pathetic. Meanwhile, naive Obama supporters don't seem to realize that he's the one lying almost 100% of the time.

And like I said before, do you REALLY think that HRC is going to lie about this? What does she possibly have to gain? Plus (unlike Obama) HRC is the rare politician who can be believed basically all the time, except when she has a rare slip-up on the facts just like any other human being. And I have NEVER heard of her telling an intentional, out-and-out lie.
