Edwards Calls On Congress To Help States Manage State Budget Deficits
Bush plan omits critical state aid from so-called "stimulus" package

Jefferson City, Missouri – During an event in Jefferson City today, Senator John Edwards called on Congress to fix George Bush's flawed economic stimulus plan to include Edwards' proposal for federal financial assistance to states – including up to $375 million to help solve Missouri's looming budget deficit. Missouri is currently projecting a budget deficit in 2010 and beyond.

"States like Missouri need immediate help – or we could see devastating cuts to education, health care and other basic services, along with increases in property taxes," Edwards said. "Providing this assistance to states will not only protect our schools and our most vulnerable citizens, but represents an important and critical step to avoid a recession."

On December 22 – long before Congress, the President, or any other candidate – John Edwards warned about the prospect of a looming recession and proposed an economic stimulus plan that includes extended unemployment benefits, investments in the renewable energy industry to create jobs within 90 days, a Home Rescue Fund to help families avoid foreclosure, and immediate federal financial assistance to states.

Over 35 leading economists endorse John Edwards, this is just one of the reasons. Real solutions, to real problems.

He suggested it a couple of weeks ago.

7. You didn't read the whole article, did you?
I mean, it's okay, a lot of people forget to do that. You said Obama came up with it two weeks ago? Here's a little more-

"On December 22 – long before Congress, the President, or any other candidate – John Edwards warned about the prospect of a looming recession and proposed an economic stimulus plan that includes extended unemployment benefits, investments in the renewable energy industry to create jobs within 90 days, a Home Rescue Fund to help families avoid foreclosure, and immediate federal financial assistance to states."

And here's the link again. You put the big arrow on it and push down of the thing that looks like a mouse.

12. Nov 2
He was discussing "structural problems in our economy" long ago, hesitant to predict a recession but it was clearly on his mind.

http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2007/11/02/lauer-begs-barack-say-economys-headed-recession

And has always had a variety of measures to rebuild the economy.

The point is that it's ludicrous to pretend Edwards is the only one capable of creating an economic plan or plan to get out of Iraq. And it's even more ludicrous to say people are stealing from him when he presents the same routine strategies any other Democrat would present.

15. Where did I suggest that Edwards was the only one capable-
Of creating an economic plan? Where did I say anything at all about Obama? You came into my post and accused Edwards of stealing. It was you that said my guy was stealing, not the other way around. And you did not read the whole article, and you did not know your facts.

You were very quick to try to start a fight with me, and you bring these lame links in your defense. How pathetic. I try to be a decent person here, and it just pisses me off when loud mouths sound off before they know what they're talking about. If I come into your thread and accuse you of tripe, or call your candidate a thief, then feel free to try to bloody my nose.

Right now you're not even close. Remember, you started this.

And what the plan is to help them. I know it's boring, but at least it's real.
