8. Same thing I was thinking.
It must have been hard on the family with her so ill and John on the road all the time. They are a strong family, I must say.

11. Elizabeth Edwards set to return to campaign - Cancer not the cause of break, staffers say
RALEIGH --
Elizabeth Edwards is scheduled to return to the road with her husband's presidential campaign this week, after a three-week break from the race for the White House.

Edwards, wife of former Sen. John Edwards, is expected to rejoin him at campaign events leading up to the Feb. 5 Super Tuesday votes in 22 states. Campaign staffers say the hiatus had nothing to do with her Stage 4 cancer.

"She's doing fantastic. There's been absolutely no change to her diagnosis or prognosis," said deputy campaign manager Jonathan Prince, during a conference call with reporters this week. "She's completely asymptomatic."

Edwards told friends she needed a break from the campaign. She had one scheduled medical checkup, which turned out fine, said Ellan Maynard, a neighbor and friend of a dozen years. Maynard called when she didn't see Elizabeth on TV Saturday night after the S.C. primary.
