MSNBC pundits believe Edwards voters will likely go to Clinton
saying that a largely blue-collar working-class constiuency is more likely to support Clinton than Obama. That's their spin.

2. I think it will all depend on what Edwards does. If he throws his support
behind one or the other, then I think a lot of his supporters will take that into consideration in making their choice.

but that debate tomorrow night is going to play a very big role now.

If Clinton hands Obama his ass tomorrow in a one on one. I think its downhill for him.

It will be interesting to see how Obama performs 1 on 1, i honestly don't think he was wanting to do that.

17. One of the people supporting Obama
pointed to an exit poll where Edwards supporters were asked who was their second choice to Edwards and majority went to Obama. Joe did not seem to touch that. He was like, "Yeah..." and then changed the subject and wrapped the conversation up (perhaps producers were telling him it was time for break..not sure). I don't know what will happen. All I know is that a wonderful man just dropped out of the presidential race.

20. I just said the same thing in another thread
His online support is not the same as the voter base he needed on the ground. He and Clinton were always in competition for the blue collar vote and she was getting it. His devoted supporters are something else. Either they will choose to go where he goes or they will not, but the average voter who might have voted for him will likely go to Clinton.

23. It may be a mixed bag.
Edwards' "Change voters" will obviously go to Obama.

On the other hand, I fear Hillary will benefit in largely white lower-middle class precincts, especially in the South. Remember the 15% rule. In many of these districts, Edwards would have passed this threshold and grabbed a delegate that will now go to Hillary. She may be the last one standing.

28. They did a 180 on that one when they realized what they were doing
When it was announced all the pundits were saying that Edwards' support would likely go to Obama. But then, apparently the memo came down from the executive offices because all of a sudden everything switched to saying Edwards' supporters would go to the Clinton camp. I call bullshit. This caught them off guard and they found themselves actually reporting on real breaking news, and were talking honestly. Then they were reminded who the official General Electric Media candidate was and they jumped back in line.

I thought most of Edwards' supporters go to Obama.
That seems to me a trend at DU.

I am a Hillary supporter; however, I am worrying now about McCain.
He may not be extrem but he is a Republican, pure and simple.

I just hope Edward's drop out settle the score between Obama and Hillary once for all.

Honestly, I am a little tired of so worked up about the primary.
I am so distracted from my very busy day's as a working mother with a autistic daughter. (Yes, my life is pretty hard though I am not poor. My husband is back to school. My daughter's early intervention program costs a fortune. We are using up saving in major. I do have some extra income from my investment property. But schedule wise, my life is crazy.)

55. I think that's true here in the South.
I believe John would have done well here in East TN. He was polling well.

Those votes will not go to Obama. It makes me sad but there is just too much generational racism here. Then the meme that he is a muslim Even my sister fell for it. Even though I don't support Obama I finally convinced her that it was false.

People who were going to Edwards in TN will probably not vote for Obama. I'm sure that is not the case in other areas of the country.

63. Wow.. I'm in E TN and I know not one single person who will vote for HRC. Most of my
friends and co-workers are for Edwards or Obama. The college campus is rabidly Obama. The huge black community is out in force for Obama. My republican relatives who have been leaning toward Edwards, no way in hell will they vote for Hillary. It has been surprising to me to see the amount of involvement here, the amount of enthusiasm; and it has been a surprise to see so much of the vote and sentiment being focused on "anybody but Hillary". I guess it depends on what pocket of the south you're in, but she's just not popular at all where I am.

And I don't mean that against you, obviously.

But this assumes that people vote their demographic and have zero political awareness and knowledge of the issues. Yet I have found Edwards supporters to be very knowledgeable, and let's face it, Obama is much closer to Edwards on key issues. Particularly with regard to corporate involvement in government.
