Rasmussen: 27% of Americans believe John McCain is too old to be President, 56 % disagree
Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Thirty-four percent (34%) of Americans say they are passionately and deeply committed to one of the Presidential candidates this year. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 47% of Democrats are that passionate, but only 28% have the same level of deep commitment to a candidate.

Among Democrats who are passionate about a candidate, 53% say they are deeply committed to Hillary Clinton’s candidacy. Twenty-eight percent (28%) are committed to Barack Obama.

As for Republicans who are deeply committed to a candidate, 34% are passionate about Mitt Romney and 23% about Mike Huckabee. Ten percent (10%) say the same about both John McCain and Ron Paul.

Americans under 30 and those who earn less than $40,000 a year are more likely to be passionate about a candidate than older and higher-income Americans.

The survey, conducted in partnership with Fox Television Stations, Inc., also touched on a number of other Election 2008 topics.

Twenty-seven percent (27%) of Americans believe John McCain is too old to be President. Most, 56%, disagree and say he is not too old for the job.

Overall, Americans are evenly divided as to whether Bill Clinton is helping or hurting his wife’s campaign. Thirty-five percent (35%) say he helps, 37% say he hurts, and 28% say he has no impact or are not sure. Among Democrats, 50% say he helps the former First Lady while 22% say he hurts.

1. By the time either Hillary or Obama are done with Grampa, he'll be
a walking advertisement for Metamucil and rest homes. That is, if we "go there". And I think we should.

2. He seems frail for 71,
which will stand out when he is on stage with someone younger and more vibrant like Clinton or Obama.

I don't think it's fair, because I'm sure the frailness and stiffness come from his torture injuries. But he's kidding himself if he doesn't think the voters will be nervous about this.

4. MSNBC's pundits were saying Huck as VP was nearly signed, sealed, & delivered -
I'm guessing this will become a bigger factor than any age questions!

5. I welcome this, because this will hurt McCain. Hucky is a circus clown--no one

can picture him as President if McCain shuffles off to the Officers' Quarters in the Sky. Conservatives can't stand either one of them.

6. Oh gag
That's all we need. McCain in the WH Huckabible as VP and McCain unable to complete his term. PResident Huckabible. HIs supporters will cite Divine intervention and we'll all be screwed.

What a disaster.

7. well, this would seem to disprove the theory of the Obama worship
Seems more than half of Hillary's supporters have tied their chain to her and aren't letting go. If there's any hero worship in this campaign, we know where it resides.
