I am bereft! Devastated!
I feel like I have been mown down by a mack truck.

Betrayed? Angry? Sliced open by a herd of wild boar?

Where do we go now? The only capable, able, voice for our future
is gone. John Edwards is walking away... First they 'disemboweled' Dennis Kuchinich,
and now.. John... I cannot take much more of this.

I can't take all the prattle, all the suppositions from all the
pundits. Can't take all the noise. Too much of the noise machine
around us, reminding us of who has been 'anointed,'
and who is a 'loser.' Too many people refusing to think for themselves
too many refusing to look beyond their own petty needs for the greater good.

And do not ply me with the plastic promises of the other two.
I don't want to hear it. And those idiots who claim that John's
absence will benefit Hillary.. I do not want to hear it.

It's as if someone died.. where do we go?

1. First election?
You'll get over it. Seriously.

3. What a cold, unfeeling post
This is not helpful, not that I think you meant to be helpful.

It's far from my first election, and I too am grieving. Yes, I know the grief won't last forever, but let us shed our tears, then work for what John Edwards championed all his working life, during his campaign, and will continue to champion.

His presidential campaign may be over, but his movement continues.

15. Sorry, but if I see another "IT'S THE END OF TEH WORLD B/C JE DROPPED OUT"
thread, I think I'm going to upchuck.

Seriously, JE is the SECOND candidate this season I've supported that's dropped out. The last time I backed a winner for the nom was in 1988-- and by the end of that campaign I was so disgusted with his triangulating that I honestly didn't care when he got his ass handed to him in the fall.

I was quite serious-- you DO get over it. And in the scheme of things, one election is not the end of the world.

17. So go upchuck.
Your post was useless, bordering on cruel, and selfish.

We KNOW we'll "get over it." Today, we're grieving, and you want to deny us even that. Fuck off.

13. First election..?
No.... I'm in my late '50's...

and the only 'winner' I ever helped elect was William Jefferson Clinton.
Some winner, eh?

No, I'm very 'romantic,' and heard the words I longed to heard,
and they were spoken by JOhn... that his message was about justice.
But now, it's all about the corporations, and all the money that flows
into the campaigns of the 'acceptable' candidates...

4. That's how I felt when Kerry conceded in 2004.
I was sad but I never give up hope.

And sometimes when I am out driving around town I still see Kerry/Edwards 2004 bumper stickers on cars and I just SMILE.

11. First it was Dean, then Kerry, now this.
It gets a little hard to take after a while.

6. I feel the same way. It's as though
I'm standing in front of an apple tree, hungry and with an invitation to pick, but all of the good fruit is gone, and what's left is all wormy and unappealing.

I'll hold my nose and vote for whichever one the Dems put up in the fall, but it will be without enthusiasm and with the knowledge that even if the Dem somehow manages to win, which in my opinion is doubtful, that nothing much will change.

7. I can relate
I was just starting to feel some hope again. I can guarnatee that this is not MY first election. I have been through this before, but have felt desperate over the last few years to see change happen.

I don't know that we will see any with either of our two candidates that we have right now ... and I HOPE it's not Hillary in the end.

I am mourning with you today.

9. I want you to know you are not alone.
Many of us are pissed. About the primary process, our number one choice dropping out, the media faux fascination with H & O at Edward's expense.

I feel like we are being herded to a meal of old oatmeal, stale bread, and Twinkies instead of fresh fruits, veggies, quality meat (for those that eat it) and dessert.
