Could we catch our breath?
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 03:10 PM by Big Blue Marble
What a ride we have been for the last four weeks. Have we ever experienced a primary season like this?
It is still January. On both sides only five remain. That is unprecedented in my memory (which goes back a ways.)
And who can remember as far back as the Thursday night in Iowa. It is but a distant dream so much has
happen since.

And here on GD-P
Adrenaline is high. Tempers flare. Attacks, counter attacks.
Rationalizing our candidate and slamming yours. Politics is all after the best contact support.

I would thoughtfully that at this point we take a break; breathe in our support for democracy with a small d.
You know the one John Edwards has so eloquently asked us to support.

Why are we here? Why do we stand with a candidate? What is our personal higher purpose in our political natures?
For each of us the answer maybe different. I would hope that we all are grounded in our love of democracy and
representative government.

What I am asking is that just for one day we turn away from the brawling, the baiting, the body slams and the accusations,
That we each for today pledge to support that is what is most dear our democracy, even more than our candidates.

Then tomorrow, it is back to the partisan trenches where all is fair.

3. Actually we are going to be in this primary thing for a while.
Next week is not the end; it is just the beginning.

I know, I know, your cynicism protects you.

I predict we will have a Democrat in the Whitehouse come January 20, 2009
