I just posted the following question to Hillary on her Town Hall site
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 04:58 PM by yodermon
here: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/action/townhall/

The Bush administration engaged in massive abuses of power over the past 7 years. There is substantial evidence that it has even violated U.S. Laws. What effort will your administration make to investigate and prosecute these abuses of power, if not outright crimes? And will you make a commitment to *not* pardon any members of the Bush administration should they be indicted?

I wanted to say more but I thought short & concise is better. Anyone have a better way of phrasing this?

I think it would be cool if she got flooded with this question, or a variation of it. Maybe someone can make a youtube of it?

On edit:
I am posting the same question to Obama right here:

2. Expect nothing
from a Clinton presidency yoder...George W Bush is Bill's buddy's son and all will be forgiven-I guarantee you that. She will not answer that question-and if she does I don't expect the truth-let us know

3. its a fair question, can you pose it to the remaining
candidates of both parties?

While revenge is not my most pressing issue, I don't see a reason to pardon unless its a matter of securing evidence against a bigger fish.

and on that note, isn't testifying against the bigger fish a pardon reason you could support?

4. Would you ask the same of Obama if given the chance?
Go to his website. There is a place to ask questions.

Is this really an issue that most working Americans would be interested in?
Just bait to make Hillary the scorn of the Bushies.

10. I will do so, but I believe that question has been asked & answered
Obama has said he'll not investigate/indict/prosecute. He made that statement some time ago, and i'm not sure if he's qualified it since then.
And if working Americans knew the full scope of the crimes, as many of us here on DU do, they would be absolutely outraged. oh well.

13. I've asked him that in person.
He sincerely wants to get beyond partisan crap(like impeaching Clinton on a bullshit charge), but will not let lawbreaking go unpunished.

I'm sure AG Edwards will feel the same way.

8. I would love it if she actually made a commitment to not pardon any
members of the B*sh admin and it would completely change my opinion of her if she did.

12. that would be a poor commitment to make
anyone prosecuting Bushco is going to need insiders to turn against Bushco.
They may need to be persuaded with pardons.
I have no problems with pardons if the person is testifying about someone higher up in the foodchain

14. Fine then, she can add that stipulation to the statement and my
offer of changing my opinion of her still stands.

She won't make any statement close to that though.

17. Those are deals that come way earlier than pardons.
In fact, a no pardon commitment would make it easier to make such deals.

22. Here's your answer
Q:
The Bush administration engaged in massive abuses of power over the past 7 years. There is substantial evidence that it has even violated U.S. Laws. What effort will your administration make to investigate and prosecute these abuses of power, if not outright crimes? And will you make a commitment to *not* pardon any members of the Bush administration should they be indicted?

A:
Thank you for that wonderful question. Like you, I love America. My husband, Bill, also has proven that he loves America just like you do. (Wait for applause) On that note, the Bush administration has done many, many bad things and we have to stop them now! (Wait for applause) As you know, I have been at the forefront to stop him even as I tried to stop him from going to war! I tried to stop him all by myself to stop the Patriot Act! I was there at the front of the line not letting him dare pass bankruptcy legislation! I was there when he tried to say we need to go into Iran! I said no! (Wait for applause) When I become President, all that will change. We will be the shining light on the hill, the beacon of hope and prayers. You know why? I'm fired up and ready to go! Yes we can! I'm fired up and ready to go! Yes we can! (crowd joins in chant)
