Washington -- During his first stint in Washington, Daniel Johnson contemplated a life without feet.
It was in a hospital bed at Walter Reed Medical Center that he found hope and assurance that life after a tragic naval accident would lead somewhere other than to lifetime dependence on his parents in Hickory.

Johnson has returned many times since, to work on Capitol Hill and to visit other recovering amputees. Now a lawyer, he's hoping to come back as a lawmaker...
