Edited on Thu Jan-31-08 12:25 AM by Proud2BAmurkin
Every time I see a clip she says "I'm going to wake up every morning and think about YOU." "You need a president who thinks about YOU."

Just saw it again and noticed she says it EVERY interview, debate, ad, speech. you you you you you

Contrasted with Obama whose performances say "Look at me, aren't I impressive and inspiring, ADORE ME" it's a very effective message. me me me me me the great and aweseome me

2. It's a good message, but I don't buy your comparison with Obama
Obama's message is never "you" or "me"; it's always "we" ("We will changes Washington"). Very effective, and the crowd reaction would seem to support my assessment.

(and I say this as a Hillary supporter)

3. The problem is why should anyone believe a word that she says?
She's as big a liar as Bill. I wonder if she's ever woken up and thought about the wives (husbands) who no longer have a husband (wife), the children who no longer have a father/mother, the parents who no longer have a son or daughter because Hillary Clinton sent them off to war to further her own political career.

Let's play pretend here: Get ready...Okay....now she's waking up thinking about me. HMMM. Wait, what's this? Good grief....I'm thinking about Sen. Edwards' message. She's miffed. It's garbled, but I'm hearing that this support is not covered in the playbook. So now what?

I'm sorry but this is just a LAME slogan. It doesn't move me towards her at all. In fact, it just makes me label her as a phony!

People hear what they want to hear.

I went to Obama speech today in Denver - he said me 3 times, we some 60+ times and as far as the "I", you tell me how anyone candidate can avoid using "I" when talking about what they will bring to the table.

Example from today's Obama speech:
And when I am President, I will immediately begin to remove our troops, I will finally put meaningful pressure on Iraq's leaders to reconcile, and I will end this war.

And I will do what we should have done back in 2002: increase our commitment to Afghanistan, press Pakistan to take action against terror, and finish the fight with al Qaeda.

I will challenge the conventional thinking that says we can't conduct diplomacy with leaders we don't like. Strong countries and strong Presidents talk to their adversaries as well as their friends, and that's what I'll do.

And when I am President, we will keep nuclear weapons from terrorists by securing all loose nuclear materials around the world during my first term in office. We will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons, and we will pursue it. http://www.politicswest.com/18648/text_speech_delivered_barack_obama_du_1_30_2008

Example from Hillary speech 1/28/08:
Thank you. It is so good to be here in Hartford, back in Connecticut. I am thrilled to see all of you. I want to thank Nancy for her really kind words, but the part of it that touched me the most was when she said that she wanted me to be the president for her grandchildren. That is something that I so deeply treasure. Thank you, Nancy. It is wonderful to be back with your Attorney General. Dick and I went to law school together in New Haven at Yale. I have followed his distinguished public career here in Connecticut with such admiration. He is generally believed to be best attorney general in the entire United States of America.

I appreciate greatly what he has been doing and particularly his point about how you have to be willing to fight for what you believe in. Dick and I have joined together against the Broadwater Plan in the South, which we don’t think is in the best interest of New York and Connecticut, of our environment, or of our future. It is an honor to be standing side by side with him and a lot of these important fights for Connecticut and New York and America.

I want to thank my co-chairs, Susan Cocco and Representative Jason Bartlett. I want to thank the members of the steering committee for my campaign here in Connecticut, and the state legislature who are here-- if they could all raise their hands so I can express my appreciation. The Hartford Mayor, Eddie Perez; State Representative, Kelvin Roldan; Bruce Douglas and the faculty and the staff here; the Bridgeport Mayor, Bill Finch; all of the elected officials and I see my good friend from Massachusetts Congressman, Jim McGovern. I’m so pleased that you all are here with me. It is exciting to be in this learning corridor, I am thrilled with what I see here.

I have been to Hartford many times. I’ve been here visiting friends, been here doing business, been here supporting people running for office here in Connecticut. I first started coming to Hartford on Sunday afternoons, back when I was in law school. Bill had this old, beat up car. It was called an Opel. I don’t even know if they make them anymore. It was the kind of car that was held together by duct tape, to be real honest. But sometimes after a long week of studying and all that we did in law school, we’d get in that old car and we’d just travel all over Connecticut. We went from one end of the state to the other. It is such a beautiful state.

I had so many happy hours here traveling across Connecticut. Of course, I am thrilled to be your neighbor now from New York, living close by in Chappaqua and being able to work on so many of the concerns that affect our two states. Boy, we have a lot of concerns we have to deal with, don’t we? I assume that all of you know tonight is a red letter night in American history. It is the last time George Bush will give a State of the Union.http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/speech/view/?id=5547

16. That's because people are realizing she's been running a "ME" campaign
The crying, the cackle, the "I'm your girl", the "Mom, the mean boys are being mean to me", the "slum lord" crap, the hawkish blather, the hiding behind Bubba -- it's all been about her. It's always been about her.

So now she's going to say "Enough about me, what do YOU think about me?" No thanks, I'll pass. :puke:

She lists what she'll do for us like a Saturday morning chore list. Yeah, she'll think about us. Yeah, she knows people are selfish. Anyone would get that message after 15 minutes campaigning.

Snore city.

19. Oh Im sorry, I'm a Hillary supporter and I think you've got that wrong
Obama says we a lot, I've never heard him saying me, me, me. You know, this kind of misrepresentation of Obama doesn't do Clinton any favors. Anyone who has heard an Obama speech knows he's really got a special gift for oratory, and Clinton agrees with this, she just thinks he needs more experience. I'm not sure why you can't support Hillary without feeling the need to marginalize Obama. Either way, it's innapropriate, and obviously slander.

Or Nevada voters - before youu bring up the DNC to counter it.

44. Very smart and effective, but the subtext is obvious.
She's parroting what we've heard a lot of women saying about why they support her. They want a woman in the White House because they feel that then they'll have a President who knows what it's like to be a mother, daughter, etc., and that the President will wake up every day with women's issues ingrained in their being.

She's largely pandering for the female vote with that line.

Also, you mischaracterize Obama's message. His message is about getting the people to participate and put aside the divisive partisanship (as exemplified in the OP).

46. Saying "you" is a good compromise
Pundits have seized on the fact that Obama uses "we" a lot, while Clinton uses "I."

The problem for her would be that if she used "we" people immediately think that she is talking about her and Bill.

So "you" is a good choice.
