Another Obama lie...(I mistakenly raised my hand)
http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080131/NATION/896961936/1001

Last fall during a nationally televised presidential debate, Sen. Barack Obama hesitantly raised his hand and joined with most of his Democratic rivals to declare that he opposed decriminalizing marijuana. (Play video below.)

But as a candidate for the U.S. Senate four years ago, Mr. Obama told Illinois college students that he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use or possession, according to a videotape of a little noticed debate that was obtained by The Washington Times.
"I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws," Mr. Obama told an audience during a debate at Northwestern University in 2004. "But I'm not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana." (Play video below.)

Asked about the two different answers, Mr. Obama's presidential campaign said he in fact has "always" supported decriminalizing marijuana as he answered in 2004, meaning the candidate mistakenly raised his hand during the presidential debate last fall.

That position leaves Mr. Obama as the lone presidential candidate among the four leading challengers in either party who supports eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana. Mr. Obama's chief rival for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Hillary Clinton, opposes decriminalization, Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer said".

"the candidate mistakenly raised his hand during the presidential debate last fall"...we want this man near nuclear weapons?

2. If he gets a buzz on, maybe he'll forget where the button is!!

It is a flip flop, though. No two ways about it. Not a huge one, but just one more for the list...

Explains the youth vote, though, dunnit?

Not completely... but it does seem to... at least a little bit.

7. Why do you call pointing out a REAL discrepancy an "attack?" An "attack" is
an unfounded, untrue load of twisted bullshit and lies designed to falsely paint the candidate in a bad light.

This is pretty straightforward. He said one thing, he meant another. He had to retract and correct.

Is saying "Hey, that ain't what you said before!!!" an attack? REALLY?

Come on.

16. It's kinda scary...
I got called a "hater" for daring to point out that his voting record while in the US senate isn't so much more liberal as that thingy wants people to think.

6. Eliminating needless penalties for POSSESSION and USE is NOT the same as...
decriminalizing marijuana. This approach will get America in line with countries like Canada and England where they punish the drug dealers and the pushers and not the addicts.

8. Maybe they should have had the candidates push a "YES" or "NO" button...
Oh wait, Obama doesn't know how to do that correctly either...

13. It must be lonely
being the only Dem candidate with any baggage. It always amazes me that someone purportedly from the Left (or is it just not-far-right) thinks they have something "new and devastating" about ANYBODY. This is amateur muckracking at the best. Wait till Karl's disciples turn their gunsights on whoever we nominate. It will make this look like training wheels on a tricycle compared to the locomotive they will put on the tracks.

14. Awesome! Another reason to vote for Obama!
Decriminalization is good policy. There's no good reason to lock people up in jail for marijuana possession. I'm sure Clinton knows her position is wrong but doesn't have the courage to stand up for good policy that's controversial. Thanks for the story.

15. He seems to make lots of these kind of "mistakes", pushing the wrong button
when voting in Illinois "Oops". Raising his hand by mistake "Sorry". Not raising his hand when he should have "Doh!".

Messy desk. Sounds like he has some issues with motor control or competence, and that's if you believe his explanations.

20. Well that clinches it
He actually said, EVER, that he supports decriminalization?

I don't care if he changes his tune for the campaign.

The prison population grew exponentially in the Clinton years. Has Hillary said anything to make me think it will be different under her reign?
