Bush Insults Kerry's Intelligence
There he goes again.

Yesterday, President Bush told a crowd of supporters in Houston that, back in 1995, two years after the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, Sen. John Kerry introduced legislation to cut the intelligence budget by $1.5 billion. "Once again, Sen. Kerry is trying to have it both ways," the president said. "He's for good intelligence; yet he was willing to gut the intelligence services. And that is no way to lead a nation in a time of war." Bush further charged that Kerry's bill was "so deeply irresponsible that he didn't have a single-co-sponsor in the United States Senate."

Bush and his operatives are making a practice of mischaracterizing the voting record of the presumptive Democratic nominee. Two weeks ago, the Republican National Committee put out a "Research Brief" that flagrantly distorted Kerry's votes on weapons systems. (Click here for the real facts.) Bush's remarks yesterday are more dishonest still.

4. The Truth Squad needs to be reserected...
...Several elections ago, the three major networks used to have a team of newscasters who analyzed the comments and claims made by the various presidential opponents in the elections and conduct not just a reality check, but determined whether the claims were true or not. Then they would broadcast the findings on national news and refute or support the claims. Sounds like we are going to need this throughout the campaign, big time. Otherwise, the Bushit could just get to deep to manage.:hurts:

6. Bush Characterization of Kerry
The strategy of the Bush campaign seems to be to characterize Kerry as a wobbler. In fact, Bush, himself, is the master of indecisive. Remember how he flew around the country on 9/11, looking like a lost child. Then he was for No Child Left Behind, but did not fully fund it. He reversed himself on steel imports. Time after time, he supported a program and then recommended cutting its budget. See Begala's book, It's Still the Economy Stupid. What's worse, Bush downright lies about the facts.

We shouldn't leave responding to Bush's arguments up to Kerry. We should write the news media over and over to remind them of Bush's swiveling on the issues and lying about the facts.

8. I touched on this in another thread
But since the major media is already bought and paid for by the repugs I feel we need to give them a push. Why can't DU do the legwork and feed it to the media? Damn, there are TONS of highly intelligent people here willing and wishing for a way to dump shrubbie and expose the lies. We do it every day!

Maybe I didn't form the idea as precisely as I would have liked but I am certain open to this brainstorming board called DU for suggestions.
