6. I know, I don't get this
Why are people who supposedly want a liberal candidate cowering when somebody brings up that our candidate protested a war?? I just don't get this board some days.

3. Let them
as Kerry himself said "I served in Vietnam - I earned the right to protest"... once he plays ads like that, the repukes will scurry back to their holes.

4. They say what he said are lies
There are other soldiers who can corroborate his statements.

5. 'Bring it on!'
What a nice was to contrast the characters.

One spoiled brat who never did anything worth noting.

Another served his country in a war he grew to oppose, and continued to serve his country ever since.

9. First find out if the person talking shit about Kerry is a Chickenhawk
After establishing that go on to the fact that Bush and Cheney both avoided combat when they had the chance to do so. While on the other hand Kerry gave the ultimate sacrifice and put his life on the line to defend his country when he thought that was the right thing to do. When he found out it was all a lie he exposed the Vietnam war for what it was. Another way to enrich corporations.

10. They don't want to bring up Vietnam
The last thing the Repugs want to do is put Kerry beside Bush in Vietnam.

There is still a smoking gun out there about Bush's service time.

11. So what? Kerry is a WAR HERO!
Pukes can complain all day long, it doesn't change a thing.

Kerry fought for his country with VALOR.

Bush, thanks to Poppy, ran to the TANG.

Then, Chicken George went AwOL.

BTW: A hearty welcome to DU, Rowsdower! Down with the BFEE!

13. Indeed, Ma'am
Any attempt to raise this against Sen. Kerry is an opening to talk up his military heroism, contrast this with the cowardice of the jackanapes foisted on us by the criminals of the '00 Coup, and close with a ringing declaration of the patriotism inherent in honest dissent, the very point of the claim our soldiers fight for freedom....

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

14. So?
These ads are preaching to the converted. It is no secret Kerry was a big part of the peace movement in the 60's. If the GOP thinks that fact is going to get any bigger than it already is, that it would be an embarassment, they're crazy. The whole generation didn't want the Vietnam War.

15. I think his war protesting is an asset
It shows he's a man of integrity who used his position to try to stop a war he knew we couldn't win, even though he knew it would be unpopular. It took a lot of guts and selflessness for a high profile vet to do want he did. As for his testimony before congress. I know for a fact that everybody heard those stories. He wasn't saying anything that the whole country did not already know. I think it was very brave and honorable for him to put himself on the line like that. I don't think he did it for any other reason than to stop the senseless dying. I think it's a mistake for the thugs to use this issue. It make Bush* look shallow and phoney.

16. Not really a surprise
One thing that I haven't found all that impressive about a lot of politicians on both sides is that they did nothing about Vietnam except avoid it. Avoiding and protesting shows commitment and character as does serving. Doing both is a powerful combination in my eyes, anyway.

17. Even if he isn't the VP candidate
Wes Clark will prove very useful during this campaign. He will stand by Kerry no matter who gets the VP slot, and Clark will not let the Republicans use Viet Nam as a wedge issue between veterans (which is Rowe's plan - think "Hanoi Jane"). They fought together then, and they will fight together now.

18. Yes TR. I felt that from the moment General Clark entered the race
His decision to join the race can only help get rid of Bush. And his earlier voting record for Republican candidates for president only ads to his credibility with many of the independent voters.
