GAMPAC - GodlessAmericans - on C-SPAN2
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 08:37 PM by Chris
Atheist-Secular PAC - www.godlessamericans.org - estimates that there are roughly 30 million non-religious Americans, which

is larger than most religious denominations except for Roman Catholics - 50M and Baptists 33 million.

Only about 40 million Americans regularly attend church.

3. Wow...
Not sure if I'd go so far as to call myself "godless" but if these guys can help keep the church out of my government, I'll support keeping the government out of churches.

I kind of agree with Ghandi: "God has no religion."

Or someone else said something to the effect of "I'm OK with God -- I just have a problem with his fan clubs."

4. I couldn't believe my ears...
When Margaret Downey stated there is a requirement for belief in a supreme being in order to hold office in Texas.

So I went and checked it out for myself.

Holy Shit. Here it is in black and white, bigotry, enshrined in my state constitution:

Article 1 - BILL OF RIGHTS
Section 4 - RELIGIOUS TESTS
No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being.
