Attended local Precinct Caucus Meeting tonight and Dean made a Difference
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 10:41 PM by KoKo01
The Repugs ruined our Primary this year and forced us into a "Caucus System." So the precincts in my district had to find people for a Quorum. Since my district is totally Repug they probably wouldn't have had anyone show up because this is new, and our local Dem Party has been run by Repug Lite's.

The great news is that the two new Officers of our Precinct are Dean Supporters. Without him I don't think our Precinct would have even been represented.

I think this is great news. And, I'm glad I was there, because without DU I wouldn't have become involved because the opportunity wouldn't have been there. We voted for a Resolution against the Patriot Act to be submitted to the Party.

You would have no idea how hard it is to get my area of NC organized. But this year because of Dean other Precinct Chairman are new to local politics and active because of their involvment with his campaign. I suspect there are a few Kucinich supporters also and I was split between Dean and Kucinich.

I'm hoping we can get Delegates for Dean/Kucinich to go to the Convention. We can't even have a Primary here until April, but with former Dean supporters as Chairman we have a chance to get Dean and Kucinich's ideas into a platform. The platform is so important and the next step.

Yes, I will vote for Kerry, but I want the platform decided by the Dean/Kucinich supporters.

That's my hope anyway. BTW, I will be Precinct Co-Chairman.

1. It is you that makes a difference
Anyway... good that you are getting involved.

Learn everything that you can.

You would probably have a good chance of getting Dean or DK delegates to the National Convention from your district if it is not that active. If there are enough Dean (probably has a better chance) delegates then their imprint on the platform will be easier.

You all need to work the state delegates on what you hope to take to the National Convention via your national delegates. You won't get everything that you want and you probably will get just a bit. And there are other ways of impacting without the platform like having individuals that will be part of the administration.
