Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 10:51 PM by jus_the_facts
....anybody have the result numbers for our *after the fact...who really gives a damn primary*? My local news said a few minutes ago that Kerry won all the primaries takin' place today too but didn't give any results....yippiefuckin'dooda....this whole process has made me even more cynical and disgusted as the democratic nominee was already decided before my vote was ever cast or counted...and there's not even any return threads on DU tonight either...:wtf:

4. Hey, good for you!
I voted in Texas today and it's not like it really makes much of a difference here either. But it genuinely felt good to vote FOR someone for a change.

6. I know the feeling...
but what to do about it? The primary system was set up to try to end the control of political "bosses" and brokered conventions. Maybe one nationwide primary in May? New Hampshire & Iowa would never go for it! Return to delegate selection by local caucuses? I truly don't know the answer, but what's happening now only leads to bitterness and confusion.

8. One nationwide primary
is the way to go. It could and would work, I'm sure there'd be a way to do it.
"New Hampshire & Iowa would never go for it!" Well, too bad. What will they do, refuse to hold a primary? I don't think so. How did they get such clout and control anyway? Time for change.

11. Yep did the same in the Florida Primary
Like you, I felt on one hand like 'who gives a damn?". But after I did it, I realized it was pretty damn nice to just vote for someone I really would have loved to see as President. There was just something really nice about seeing "Do you want Dennis J. Kucinich for President?" and being able to say "yes".

Of course, it didn't matter. They decided this long before I got a say. And I voted into a void, so who knows if it even counted. But I felt good for a few seconds anyway. :D

14. Thank God DK beat LaRouche LaDouche.
That would've been a travesty and a horrible embarrassment for any sane resident of Louisiana.

Later.

15. Your vote still matters!
No matter the inevitability of the nomination, DK's voice is needed to get some progressive planks on the party's convention platform, and if you helped him get that many more votes, it matters.

Your conscience is clear. I know it isn't much reassurance that the primary came this late, but you also didn't cave just because it did occur this far into it all. You voted your heart, and that counts for something.

16. Yeah..ya know......
....I was an Edwards supporter from the beginning but he left me high and dry last week...so I HAD to vote for Dennis in the end because he is still IN for the long haul and that impressed upon me today as I stood there in the votin' booth...regardless of the outcome my conscience IS clear...I didn't blindly follow the leader! :hi:

17. Thank you for your vote!
Dennis stands for something *very* important to us all, and the fact that you were willing to show up and given him your vote is one more building block to getting this country back.

Thanks! :toast:

19. This is very true-- it still matters A LOT!
Although our precinct caucuses are over, the MN for Kucinich organization is sticking together. We still have county, congressional district AND a state conventions to go to (and 8-9 delegates to pick for Boston, too)!

One thing good about the caucus system is that many of our people are now taking leadership positions in the party-- we have many precinct chairs and committee members, and will probably get more of them in the coming months. It is still VERY easy for grassroots organizers to have a big impact on the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor party.

We also play on staying together on an ongoing basis, and working for/endorsing candidates for future elections. We have a strong grassroots base, and have many very active volunteers for whom this campaign was just the beginning.

This primary season is not the end, but the beginning...
