Are people just plain tired of looking at that monkey faced smirking liar?
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 11:59 PM by NNN0LHI
I mean really if the poll numbers are to be believed and with the media hammering Kerry at every turnaround Kerry still appears to be smoking the garden gnome. And they have not even got up on to a stage together for one debate yet. I don't think that the contender is supposed to be out front a sitting, yes illegitimate, but still sitting president at this stage of a presidential election? Am I wrong here? And this is with a few idiots saying they are voting for Nader on top of that.

Have the lies and just appearance of being a spoiled child done Bush in? Could it be? I seen about 20 seconds of video of Kerry on a Harley today cruising down the highway today on one of the cable news channels. Looked pretty impressive for a 60 year old man. Wonder if Karl could get the Chimp on to a Harley for a little cruise?

Oh, by the way. The Republicans who I have seen on cable recently which is pretty much everybody look like they are really scared. Can't even keep their talking points straight. Anyone else notice that? I think this election is going to come down to people just want a change. Any damn change. Just change. People want out of this fear and war funk we are in and they know for sure banzai Bush is not going to help on that issue. What do you guys think?

Don

Indeed, you have put the matter very well, and it seems likely to me there must be millions upon millions who feel as you have described. An excellent piece of work, my friend!

16. You bet they are!
A long face, an honest face, you name it!

We wouldn't be tired of looking at chimpy if he was the real president. We wouldn't be tired of looking at him if he ever told the truth one fucking time!

People know he lies and smirks, lies and smirks. They can't wait to see a good honest Dem knock that crooked smirk off his crooked face.

Any questions, hon?

7. An interesting point!
There's been a whole lot of "Rah rah go Kerry" posting here. Which is fine! I've done it too. But you're making a slightly differerent point I'd never thought of.

Bush can go around identifying himself with war, Iraq, 9/11 etc. all he wants. Indeed, his moment of greatest resonance with the public was right after 9/11.

But the more unneccesary the war looks, and the less effective their constant "Look out! Terrorists! Ahhh!" routine becomes, people are just getting tired of the whole damn thing.

I hadn't thought of it until I read your post. But I think it's true. People see Kerry and they think, Wait; it doesn't have to be like this any more. Enough of this constant fear, Rumsfeld, "hunts" for middle-eastern despots, poverty, darkness...what a downer.

It's a superficial judgement but it could be deadly for Bush. The more the public identifies this mantle of fear with the Bush administration (and not the dark, unseen forces of terrorism overseas and amongst us) the more they'll just want to be rid of him.

He wasn't a very good fit for the presidency anyway. He never could talk. He was never charming. All that was proscribed and forced. Maybe you're right; maybe policies and positions notwithstanding, we're all just sick of him.

15. And the uproar with the first ads using bodies from the WTC caused...
...the crackhead in chief to have to come out and admit that he was going to let the fear of what happened on Sept. 11, 2001 be the centerpiece for his re-Selection bid. He had to show his hand early and it was ugly. As someone else here at DU said the it was like he stood up to the plate at a ballgame and took the first pitch right in the mouth.

9. That's exactly what they're tired of. bush's policies are more popular

than bush himself. He is crude, and reminds people of a sleazy door to door aluminum siding salesman.

Kerry offers the reassurance of the status quo, and makes a more attractive spokesman for it.

14. So far Kerry is right on and Bushco is just stumble, stumble, stumble!!
People are irate over his stupid ads and after Kerry said * has time to go to a rodeo why can't he give the 9/11 panel more than an hr? Now today * says he will answer all the 9/11 panels (full panel)questions regardless of time. That sounds like a flip-flop! Geez, give * some sun tan lotion to go w/ those flip-flops!!!

18. We want the Real Deal
Yesterday he was at a day care holding a baby and swinging little kids. I love that. Playing with kids on one show, riding a Harley on the next. Yeah. I think people are fed up with the Great Pretender.

Oh yes I’m the great pretender
Pretending that I’m doin’ well
My need is such, I pretend too much
I’m lonely, but no one can tell
Oh yes I’m the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I play the game but to my real shame
You left me to dream alone
Too real is this feelin’ of make believe
Too real what I feel, what my heart can’t conceal
Oh yes I’m the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I’m not, you see
I’m wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you’re still around
Too real is this feelin’ of make believe
Too real what I feel, what my heart can’t conceal
Oh yes I’m the great pretender
Pretending that you’re still around
Pretending that you’re still around
Pretending that you’re still around

20. Chimpy is too afraid to leave the house.
I remember part of O'Neill's book talking about him not even wanting to go outside to walk to the executive office building but taking the tunnels underneath the White House. Also, he looks terrible. I saw some photos of him after he had just taken office and photos of him now and he looks 100.
I agree about this country being in a funk. And it's him and his band of evils. It's almost like we can't do anything fun anymore. hell, a lot of us can't afford it.
It's time for a change. People have just had it with him.

23. one point no one's brought up
People said part of the bush vote in the 2000 election was because of Clinton exhaustion, in other words, just sick of Clinton and the big affair the repukes made about Lewinsky. So if people got sick of a sex scandal, I think you can make the case they're pretty sick of war-war-war-no jobs-war-no jobs-war war war.
