2. Yes, but....
They should change the name because the 2004 primaries are largely over. Perhaps, it should be replaced by a seperate forum for the presidential election in general.

If not GD would fill up with General Election threads within minutes, knockig off other non-election topics of front pages fast.

5. That doesn't just focus on the presidential election
The replacement GD forum should be focused solely on the presidential election while Politics & Campaigns has discussion of congressional, local races and other races as well.

7. One forum just gets too crowded
It's hard to have a "discussion" when the threads are off the page in five minutes.
I had given up putting time and energy into posts because they just got lost. With two forums I have been taking more time and putting more care into my posts.

8. Skinner mentioned in Ask the Administrator
That he would be switching GD: Primary to GD: General at some point soon.

10. Lots of States have not held their Primaries yet.
I resent the idea that "the Primary Season is over."
• It dismisses an awful lot of Democratic voters and an awful lot of states.
• It also dismisses the whole purpose of Primary Elections. So I am angry with the DNC for arranging things this way.
• I am angry with the media for helping the DNC push the idea that it's all over, and idea that all Democrats are united.
• I am unhappy with DU for no longer providing stationary threads for state primary election results on primary election days, because that just feeds into this DNC agenda.

The DNC announced in December (I think it was) that they wanted the nomination decided by March. They got their wish.

The media announced it was over when around 30 states had still not voted, including big ones like CA, NY, OH, MA, TX, FL, IL..

A week ago 4 of those states voted. The results showed a sense of inevitability of a Kerry win - the bandwagon effect.

Today two more of those states voted and everyone is saying they feel it was pointless.

This is so wrong! Why bother to hold expensive elections and expensive campaigns? Just let the MEDIA and the DNC pick the candidates and just tell us how it is.

Let's stop pretending we actually have a role to play.

11. Actually, it took 30 states, including
the biggies of CA and NY before the race was pretty much settled, which is a LOT compared to other years.

And what are you mad at? I don't want to be cruel, but no scenario short of the mass death of all the other candidates at a debate which they attended in person while your guy was attending via satellite would have led to a Kucinich victory. And even then Joe Biden or Gore or Hillary would've stepped in.

I mean, if you're going to a join a quixotic, pure-principal campaign, led by an unknown with no national following and a set of positions near a terminal of the spectrum, one of the first thing you gotta figure on is LOSING.

So if you're going to back a LOSER, you should have fun and raise your issues. Bitter doesn't work.

That's so not nice, but it was sure funny.

I knew I was never going to get to vote in this thing months ago. That's the deal. My vote has never mattered in a primary, not ever. Oh well.

It looks extremely low.

I don't think many people use this forum anymore.

13. As the push to love Kerry intensifies
there will be fewer and fewer replies.

A lot of folk will be leaving.

A lot of us are never going to feel enthusiasm for him, and that will not be tolerated, so.... out we'll go.

REasoned discourse isn't popular here.

Another Delusional Diehard for Dennis!!
