85% of US imams involved in terrorist activities?
Leaders of 85 percent of the nation's mosques are involved in terrorist activities, and some have made irresponsible statements about the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, said Rep. Peter King, a Long Island Republican. "I don't see any need to be politically correct here - the stakes are too high," King said in an interview broadcast Sunday on WNBC-TV's "News Forum."...

3. He can say that
because such talk is hardly (1) reported, or (2) criticized. Substitute any other ethnic group in that sentence and Pete would be out of a job. Muslims = bogeyman.

4. Notice about the wording..."85 percent...
..are involved in terrorist activities, and.. ...some have made irresponsible statements"

So it could be 84.9999 percent making "statements"
0.0001 involved in "terrorist activities"
-------
Total 85.000 making "statements" and involved "terror"ists

It is the same type of parallel misleading statement as saying... saying 99.99% of all gay people are baby killers and some have made irresponsible statements.

Or 87.23% of all Republicans are Sado Masochists and some pay taxes.

Mendacious and purposefully misleading... see?

5. If that's an accurate rendering of what the idiot said
(note that it's not actually a quote), I'm not sure how you could parse it that way. If it were '85% are terrorists or are talking trash', then it would work, but '85% are terrorists AND some are talking trash' doesn't seem to work with your parsing. But maybe that's just me being a programmer.

But regardless, the very fact that that arschloch can get major-network time with that drivel while DK has been virtually shunned for his message of hope and change says something really, really, really ugly about the state of our nation.
