1. Erskine has a decent chance of winning
probably somewhere close to 50ish percent. He didn't do so badly against Elizabeth Dole last time.

2. I don't think so
I live here in NC. And she crushed him because of his stance on Fast Track.

10. Her commercials that showed video of Erskine supporting Fast Track...
when Clinton was president directly followed by video of Erskine saying he was against Fast Track were deadly.

3. He spent all his time
running for president. At least Bowles has name recognition from his last senate campaign. That's all I can say for him, I'm afraid.
At least Helms finally retired! What an embarassment he was!

4. Erskine Bowles is better than you give him credit for
He only lost to Elizabeth Dole narrowly in his last bid.

12. Bowles loss was not narrow.
Sorry to say. It was largest margin in a really long time. And without Edwards at VP, this is probably a lost seat. Maybe a loss for governor, too. NC gave huge margin to Bush in 2000.

7. Bowles was leading the last poll I saw by quite a bit against Burr
Edwards can't run, the reason he decided to anounce his not seeking a second term was because of the pressure put on him from everyone to do just that and make a choice. Of course many of the same people, namely his presidential opponents camps, bashed him after he made the decision as well.

8. Edwards is going to be VP
Erskin Bowles is going to win the election..he is running ahead, Edwards was running ahead of Kerry at the time he got out of the race, people in North Carolina are going to vote democratic, I think, not sure I head some one on the Radio say Kerry was ahead of Bush in Blue Heaven

11. Are you from NC? Then how do you know?
Considering Bowles is leading in NC polls, it seems NC disagrees with you.

15. The polls don't matter
Bowles has high name recognition because he ran a statewide campaign in 2002. Burr, on the other hand, probably is largely unknown to most North Carolinians because he is just one of 13 congressmen. It is way too early to tell how this race is going to break. The issue of trade may help Bowles and he is a strong candidate but it is a long way until November.

Still, Bowles has been running for many months now and he should stay the nominee and Edwards can find something else to do. It is too late now to switch horses.

14. Big clue that Bowles is going to win: if he wasn't (if the polls were bad)
the media would be destroying Edwards with the story.

Since they can't, the race is being totally ignored.

Furthermore, to pay attention to it woudl further consolidated Bowles's lead.

16. Bowles has experience.
He was Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton.
