Illinois Voters: A Message from CMB Delegates Davis and Rush

Dear Friends:

On Tuesday, March 16th, Illinois Democrats will vote in our presidential primary, and they will also be voting for delegates to the national convention. We are two of those delegates, committed to Carol Moseley Braun. Even though she had to suspend her campaign for the nomination, she agreed to stay on the ballot to support our bid to represent Illinois at the Boston convention.

It is important on many fronts that the people of Illinois vote on Tuesday, especially to show that we are committed to electing a new president in November and turning our country around. It is also important that we show support for our "favorite daughter", who made a most honorable run in support of changing the public interest for women and people of color. Carol Moseley Braun has had a distinguished 25-year public service career in Illinois -- that is why we endorsed her early in this race.

Polls taken in 2003 showed Carol far ahead of everyone else in the field had the Illinois primary been held then. There were good reasons for that, and for the same reasons we ask the citizens of our great state to vote for her on Tuesday. She has already pledged her support to Senator Kerry, and she will work with all Democrats to elect John Kerry president. In the meantime, we have a chance to show the country that we appreciate Carol Moseley Braun by voting for her in the Illinois primary. Please tell your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same.

We will then all go to Boston united for victory!
